isometric views?

Do you think that it will be possible to render scenes isometrically, as in 3d, but without the diminishing perspective. Sort of as though you are an infinite distance away and just zoomed in really far. I think that this would be very useful for any kind of rts style game where you might want an overhead or slightly angled view of the world. I could also see it being handy for a 3rd person rpg. It would come out looking somewhat like diablo, only with true 3d as opposed to sprites, so you could rotate the view as much as you want.
 
Yea, it would be possible. Just change to a third-person perspective and rotate the camera.

That wouldn't be true isometric.

Dan, i assume you're talking about rendering it within Source, in which case i don't think you could get it to be true isometric, (not unless you rendered 2D to the screen). I may be wrong though, so an Email might be worth it.

Of course using The Thing's method would probably be adiquate.
 
It depends on how much access you get to the renderer, if somehow you can use triapi to do it, then yes, but it would be a lot of work.
