ITS AUGUST 17 HERE w00t HL 2 Preload :)

I just figured it would be like every other game on steam except codename gordon. You need to enter a cd-key to be able to download anything.

I figured with HL2 the HL2 logo would appear under "coming soon", you right click the logo , then click purchase from there you can buy it or enter your ATI voucher. Once that's done you can start pre-loading.
 
yea... it is 1:25AM here. No preload. I just want that message to pop up... HL2 Preload Available!
 
Just think how it was done with Condition Zero. It'll probably be similar.
 
If I were you, I would DEMAND your tax dollars back since clearly you didn't learn how to spell in school.

thats what im thinking. ok, off to bed. i hope i wake up with that little icon in my steam. its sad that that would make me happy.
 
Buying CS:CZ for its key just to preload is retarded. You can only play for like a week, and the game is coming out in about a month. Valve is probably letting CZ owners download CS:S because they realize how bad CZ is and they want to make up for it.
 
STEAM is in Seattle. It's only 11pm there. Keep waiting folks. ;)

isn't the beta open to only those u own a copy of CZ, or have a HL2 voucher and of course can't forget those cyber cafe pple :p
anyway.. if the above is all correct.. then why would the beta be pre-loaded for those who do not own any of those items?

this is hl2 preloading were talking about. open to everyone.
 
I thought the HL2 preload was for everyone? Including for those without the ATI coupon and CZ?

although im wondering, will they make people without vouchers buy it on steam first with CC? whats to stop every single steam user from just double clicking halflife2 preload for the heck of it and hogging all the bandwidth, when many of them might not even have plans to play it
 
Still no Hl2 preload... damn they're already 8 minutes late...

When did CS:S Beta start?
 
its probably going to happen after their workday starts, when valve are actually in their offices. so i wouldn't hold your breath for another 7 hours, unless you have amazing lung capacity

what time did CSS start preloading cos I would guess HL2 will be sround the same time.
 
i think it was around 6 to 7 actually PST. i remember i had just eaten dinner and then people were posting their %s
 
So is the HL2 preload for everyone or just people with ATI coupons?
 
I'm buying the retail version, so the preload doesn't interest me much.
 
well you could preload the game, then enter the cdkey from your store bought copy to activate, that way you wouldn't have to tamper with the cds
 
I dont see why everyone is so nuts over getting this preload, its not the full thing and you cant use it.. once its on steam your all going to just download it and go "Yea...wow.." cant even use it.
 
For many I think it's just proof that it really exists, hehe.
 
What is the point off pre-loading HL2 at this moment?
Especially since it's only for the Ati voucher holders...
What im trying to say is, why pre-load for such a small amount of ppl?
Like it's going to save bandwith when it's actually released, weird decision imo...
 
I will buy it from Steam, cause it won't come here to sweden until days after the actuall release, SO, I buy it from steam cause I don't want to get spolied.

Also, I need to do both, cause I need a non-open-copy of HL2 :)

i dont think it will. if they release it early on Steam they will make a lot more money as it goes straight to them instead of the publisher.
 
All you folks that think you don't need to either a) buy via steam, or b) have an ATI voucher are probably in for a shock. To the best of my knowledge there has been no official announcement either way. And, if I were gabe, i sure as hell wouldn't be letting every man and his dog download it. If previous games are any measure of how things will work, then YOU WILL NEED A VOUCHER (or you will need to purchase over steam) to be able to download it.

That said, there is no official announcement, so believe what you will. But if you believe everyone can download it then you're probably wrong!
