This thread reminds me of how emotion can lead to things being stopped as food. (I know you didn't SHIPPI but everyone saying stuff made me think of similar things )

For instance, horse meat in the United States, illegal to do. Not illegal to have it but I believe the process to sell it is. Wheras it's sold in Europe more often, it's simply a livestock animal, you don't see people flipping out about steer/cows. And note, just about 2 or 3 years ago we had about 14 or so horses here, we raised and bred paints (and a few others just to have)
