This is one messed up site. :rolling:

Anyway it's for the new band called Jakelope. I heard their new single on the radio and I believe that they could be this year's Evenesence.

They're a band that was formed with help from NIN, a project supposedly from Trent Renzor himself. Unfortunately I have found little information on this and the website is all that I can go by.

Rumor has it that the new single is hidden on the website itself, along with a bunch of other secret information about Jakelope and NIN.

This is like the ilovebees website for Halo 2. Hidden messages galore.

Who wants to help me search the site for more info? A hunt for the single. Any new information on the band.

I apprecieate the help. :D

EDIT: Ok, I've just found one small clip of the new single. Still searching for the whole thing.

That starting noise is annoying as hell!

This is NOT a Trent Reznor project, it's a project formed by Dave Ogilvie that Trent happened to be somewhat involved in.

The name Jakalope may not ring a lot of bells, but the group’s composition will likely cause a whole lot of excitement amongst ‘90s industrial fans.

Jakalope is the brainchild of Skinny Puppy producer Dave "Rave" Ogilvie, a studio veteran who’s helped out just about every important industrial/nu goth band of the last couple decades, working with Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson, David Bowie, Coal Chamber, Front Line Assembly, Einsturzende Neubauten and, er, Sloan, among others. To form his dream project, Ogilvie recruited a young singer named Katie B., as well as the three Dons of Sons Of Freedom fame (Don Harrison, Don Binns and Don Short) and studio dude Anthony Valcic, who was a member of Moev.

While the permanent Jakalope line-up is pretty juicy on its own, it’s the guest stars they’ve recruited for their debut album that will really make they industrial types drool. Ogilvie called in favours from many of his past collaborators who were all happy to join in the Jackalope fun. The mighty Trent Reznor produced, wrote and played on various tracks for the album and Monster Magnet, Jamey Koch (a.k.a. Bob Rock) and S.N.F.U. have also stepped in. Jakalope are still in studio working on the album and Babes In Toyland’s Kat Bjelland and members of 12 Rounds and Sikth are also expected to lay down some tracks with the band.

Jakalope recently signed a deal with Toronto’s Orange Record Label, which also plays home to Jim Bryson, Lindy, Melissa McClelland and Canadian Idol contestant Billy Klippert. The label will release the debut Jakalope single in April with a full length following in June.

Obviously outdated, but still, for those who don't know.

I have yet to hear their single, but the website music has got me interested. Very hypnotic. :)

Since Trent Reznor (finally spelt his last name right) is producing the album, I thought that it was his project.

Thanks for clearing that up.

I still haven't found the full single on the site yet, I'm about to give up and just listen to the clip over and over.

front line assembly is awesome

halflife2.net should make industrial music forums, lol

After listening to an audio clip on the website, I can't see where you're pulling the evanesence comparison from. The only similarity I can see is that the singer is female. I would be more inclined to say this is Skinny Puppy with a female singing. But still, sounds good. ;)

Majority of female singers all do pop, or even punk. Very few have crossed over to the rock/industrial side of music and actually produced some hits.

This new single has all the same qualities that the first Evanescence single had.

1. A powerful female voice for the vocals
2. A sound that is in league with the major artists in their genre
3. Media airplay every few days

There's probably more. Anyway, I'm comparing them to Evanescence for their uniqueness and that this uniqueness makes them very fun to listen to.

Hmm...I wouldn't call Evanescence unique myself (they're effectively the bastard child of Lacuna Coil and Linkin Park), but I see your point. I figured you were comparing in terms of sound. :)
