If you are at all a fan of the Star Wars universe, then these model renders and skins may get your blood flowing. Jedi: Timeline is a mod planned for Source engine and the Far-Cry engine, with a Single player and multiplayer mode. [br]</br>
"This mod will span the full history of the republic all the way from the Sith Era to the New Jedi Order..."[br]

[br]Read more about this exciting mod at their website.

Interesting. This is the first i've heard of a mod working on two engines simultaneously. Kinda like games being like game systems now.

Recipe for death imo...

"The staff at Jedi: Timeline ©, are not any way associated with Lucas Film ltd."

They'd better plan a new mod: "Getting Sued Into Oblivion by Lucas: Source"

lol... would that really happen?

mod looks cool, btw. we have some nice mods going on :D

Just call it Swordweilder Length Segments!!!!!!!
Y3S, teh newb hax0r g4m3r got pwnd (Sued)!!!!!1

That looks awesome, but like @licomb said, I'm abit worried on the copyright and IP issue.

doubt they will get sued, as long as they dont try selling their mod for money. As they are giving it away they arent really doing anything wrong.

i mean really why are they using the far cry engine, its bloody terrible imo!

Me and some fellow Hl2.nets tried to say this to them but they banned us instead :)

True, if you ignore the fact their using IP without permission, breaking copyright laws, using logo's, identities and trademarks without permission...

Lucas has created loads of star wars games. Making a mod like this could potentially threat their sales and i'm afraid they're gonna shut it down sooner or later. Furthermore, using other peoples work without permission isn't very nice either.

That would be incorrect.

I couldn't have said it better myself!
Somebody should talk to the mod makers about contacting Lucas Arts or something... Because it's a shame if the spend 10.000 of hours more than just 10 hours more before they get stopped by Lucas.
That is IF they get stopped... Think they will, but don't hope they will!

agreed.
Lucas Arts is famous for cease and desist orders...maybe this mod team hadn't heard of it all as much as it is hard to believe.

ive seen a lot of mods for various games which use peoples copyrights and they seem not to have gotten into any trouble.

I dont think troopers has experienced any problems with lucasarts over their ut2004 mod.

They'll be alright if they don't copy it exactly. And by the looks of the models, it looks like they're doing that.

Not true, the Cry-Engine can handle vehicles much better than Source. All three screenshots are of vehicles, so I can assume it's going to be similar to Star Wars: Battlefront (mostly vehicles). If it turns out to be vehicles mostly, I'll be playing it on the Cry-Engine. Not Source.

And your source for this vehicle comparison is?

Nevermind.

Anyways, hope they manage to actually do a good job. Most star wars mods don't.

It's my own opinion. Go drive a hummer in Cry, then drive the buggy in HL2. Cry has a much smoother ride, the steering works much better etc.. The buggy in HL2 feels like crap compared to far cry's vehicles.

And tr0n, why be an ass?

Because I am one.

You say the far cry engine can handle vehicles much better when really it comes down to is how the vehicle is coded in the game.

Hell you can make the buggy in HL2 fly in the air for christ sakes if you wanted to.

So really they are both the same...it's up the the coder to decide how the vehicle is gonna act in the game.

i think they're way over their head :/
covering the entire timeline, coding for 2 engines?
i'm hoping for the best, but...

Lucasarts can't even make a decent Star Wars game.

Lucas Arts knows of the mod. Timmay the lead has been in contact with them for awhile now. As far as duel engines go, everyone is right, its tuff as hell. There is a chance one might be getting dropped, but you didn't hear that from me..

Those who are like you and me are probably the reason they're using the Half-Life 2 engine. In other words: they try to appeal to as many as possible.

Exactly.. and the vehicles in HL2 are coded for crap then? No, my experience with the 2 Source vehicles i've driven is not the best. I don't like the way it feels. Has nothing to do with the vehicle or whatever. On the otherhand, boats and trucks in FarCry feel awesome and realistic. It is the engine.

This team is going to get shutdown.

Simple enough.

i always thought far crys player movement actually was sluggish and annoying, jumping felt like you had a ton of bricks attached to your groin

First off let me say I have never banned anyone for saying anything about a copyright. I am the only one who can ban on the JT site. So please stop your drama.

As so the copyright issues, I have been in contact with LA and they know about the mod and even keep a eye on it. They have no issues with it as long as we don’t sell it. Go to www.lucasfiles.com a site run by Lucas arts for mods of star wars games, and other engines like UT2k4 and BF.

There has been no announcement yet on this issues.

yeah! so stop nay-saying!!! anyway, i have also been keeping an eye on this mod b/c it looks promising.

imo the driving in hl2 was very fun. seemed realistic enough to me. you may not have liked what valve did with the vehicles but that doesnt mean that cry-engine has better vehicles. you need to give better proof, like certain capabilities of vehicles in the cry-engine compared to source's (which you can check this very website for). I, still wanting to actually play farcry, cant really comment on which engine is better for vehicles. but i can say that you arent putting up a good argument when you say that you dont like the handling or speed of the vehicles in hl2. who knows how JT will use the source engine for vehicles.

good luck with working on 2 engines. very ambitious (work on source first :) plz) i want to experience this mod as soon as possible and i dont have farcry or extra $.

Well lets just say crytek never released c++ in their SDK, so there can be nothing piloted.

i think the key thing is you prefer Farcry, not that Farcry's vehicles are superior

I believe that was stated when i said it was MY OPINION. Try learning English.

It does indeed, that's why i didn't comment on player movement.

Never said anything about the handling or speed of them last time i checked.. has nothing to do with that.

I guess i forgot how impossible it is for you people to admit that something, somewhere out there could possibly beat your precious source. Hell I love source as much as the next guy, but if you can't recognize its flaws, or AT LEAST just disagree with me, rather than flame me or put words in my mouth, then stop posting.

I never said anything about you being wrong shitcock, I said "i think the key thing is you prefer Farcry", people were replying to the "Not true, the Cry-Engine can handle vehicles much better than Source" comment you made, which I'm sure you'd agree doesn't sound very opinion-like. but then you know everything about English don't you?
