Yes because money is going to make everything all right again and make their loved one come back...

Oh no, the parents are simply insuring it doesn't happen again!

Right, I'll believe that when twenty hot girls confess their life-long obsessions with me.

The victims' families have sued Take-Two Interactive (parent company of Rockstar), Sony, Wal-Mart, and GameStop for their parts in the manufacturing and selling of the game.

The good for nothing little worm who did that is not the victim. Read the article, people.

Sue parents for child abuse.

I agree with Shens' love attack. It worked with Ghandi after all.

Hm. Anybody want to send letter to Jack Thompson again? And try and at least pretend to be respectful, that way it'll make him look more like a prick when he invaribaly replies to it with such beautiful, eloquant phrases like 'self-mastubatory absorbtion'.

I've got most of the emails and replies from the Stopkill thread.

usa, land of death. At least he kept it in the country. Unlike the Iraq soldiers who train on video games them go out killing kids, having been desensitised...This kid just did what he was supposed to and kept the wheel turning, the bloody old wheel of the big old death machine...

Its makes the laugh how they focus so strongly on the fact he played games when he has years of abuse from his parents. What a load of shit. Then you see his parents sueing 4 companies and obviasly becoming rich over it when its most likly there fault in the first place.

Yeah, obviously this guy was just screwed in the head, and under the 'right' questioning it turned out he had done this sort of thing in the game (which everyone who has played the game has done).

Oi, don't turn this into an anti-iraq thing.

This isn't that political yet.

A) The kid didn't win. He didn't even come close to convincing the judge apparently. So while you can debate his penalty, it would seem that using videogames as a defense is becoming less and less of a valid tactic.

B) I'm comforted in knowing that there are more mature gamers out there than Jack Thompson followers. That means that should he ever actually succeed in doing something thats really harmful to the industry (selling mature games to minors isn't supported by most), then theres a veritable army waiting to fight back.

funny how that doesnt apply to heads of state
We gave up when we ran out of places to put the bodies a few thousand years ago.

I distinctly remember the judge throwing out his defense that video games were responsible at the very beginning of the trial ..had the judge allowed it there might have been some negative reprecussions, but as it stands he was found guilty of murder, nothing more ..the video game thing is secondary here

Even if it is allowed, proving beyond a reasonable doubt that a videogame is the sole or principal cause in committing murder or any other crime is a decidedly difficult undertaking.

The bottom line is that people will use anything as an excuse to avoid taking responsibility for their own actions: maybe your parents didn't buy you enough toys when you were a child, maybe daddy spanked you, maybe your male friend grabbed your privates behind the shed, maybe you ate too much junk food, maybe you got a bad haircut, maybe your football coach told you to 'Kill 'em'(referring to your conference rival), maybe you saw your parents having sex, maybe you played videogames. Don't give me any excuses--you and you alone are responsible for your actions. Everything else is just a scapegoat.

if there was like 35 millions of sales of GTA then why there is not 35 millions of muderers kid?

Edit: Sorry, It's the fault of the kid and the parents.
