why would someone NEED a gun in this situation, pepperspray or a taser is a much better solution. I'm not a tough guy, but i can defend myself without a gun. So what you're saying is that if you attempt to beat up the guy holding the knife you're so much braver than the guy with the gun. It doesn't mean you're braver, it means you're an idiot. Why the hell would you attempt to stop him when he has a knife with your bare hands instead of using the gun? What you're saying makes absolutely no sense. Using a firearm to end a dangerous situation doesn't make you a coward. It's the quickest, most effective way to handel it. Personally, I'd choose the gun in a second and so would you. (unless you like the idea of getting stabbed.)

Cowards are people like the rapist, who deserve to be shot in the nuts and then the throat.
It is in an animals nature to pick the most effective form of defense or offense.
Put it this way, if you shot the rapist with a gun, that would be it.
If you went against a rapist with a knife you may end up bleeding to death on the floor with the girl.

The only thing i agree with is that you should never entrust your life with a weapon, it is very good to get good at hand to hand combat......you cant have your fists taken off you (well you can *ouch* but you cant ban them)

In the UK i am stopped from carrying any type of weapon, so if i had to stop a rapist it would have to be with my fists (or anything near by)
I would punch him in the back of the neck, nocking him out, then stamp on his head to kill him.

i never said that using physical violence was braver, just that its safer to use a taser or pepper spray or hands.

The original options were a gun or a sword, so lets forget about the peper spray or the Taser, even though the Taser is more dangerous [to you] than the gun. With a taser, you get one 'shot'. The little dart with the wire connected to the end shoots out and that's it. You miss you're essentially ****ed. You're saying physical violence is safer. Safer to who? You, people near you, or the rapist? Because going up against a guy with a knife using physical violence isn't very safe for you. For a .22

Saftey on, Round Chambered, Holstered = 3in circle at 50yds 1.68 seconds, second aimed round in .45 seconds (Not double tap)

Saftey on, No round Chambered, Holstered = 3in circle at 50yds 3.23 seconds

For a 9mm

Saftey on, Round Chambered, Holstered = 4in circle at 45yds 1.78 seconds Second aimed round in .8 second

I am simply saying that in this situation resorting to a gun is foolish. Can you honestly say that pepper spray or a taser is any less effective at stopping this person, weighing in the potential for innocent people to be hurt (the guy is on top of someone raping her so in case you didnt realize, he has to be pretty close).

Yes. I can honestly say that a taser or pepper spray is less effective than a gun. With pepper spray, you've got to get close enough so that the pepper spray reaches him and close enough to spray it in his eyes. That means getting within potential knife range. Right there, that alone makes it much less effective. With a Taser, like I said earlier, you've got one shot. The little dart with the wires attached to the end shoots out and if it hits him, he gets electrocuted. If everything works perfectly then yes, then it is the more effective way to stop him. What you're not considering, is that if you miss, you're ****ed. One shot...one shot. Also, and more importantly, if the rapist is still...uh...

Seriously though, considering I'm a freaking pansy, I'd probably hold the gun from a distance and yell at him. I'd probably freak out, shoot the gun, miss and hit the girl.

Then the guy would run after me and I'd spin around in circles firing with my eyes closed. Six other bystanders die due to bullet wounds while the rapist tackles me and is exulted as a hero.
