I thought it was Alyx who was really a man? ^^

Well yes, the ending of HL2 is enigmatic and confusing. Just like the ending of all HL games. Except Blue-Shift of course, which just plain sucked.

Basically, you prevent Breen from teleporting to the Combine's universe by blowing up Citadel 17's Dark Energy Reactor, which may well have killed everyone. The G-Man freezes time and locks you away in your little happy cell away from the rest of space and time.

My theory about what's outside that sliding door? The Dursley's Semi-Detatched in Jolly old England. You see, it's pretty obvious to me that Gordon Freeman is an older version of Harry Potter. Check those glasses out.

Alyx, Eli and Mossman have a 50/50 chance of surviving the distruction of the citadel...

While I loved that the G-Man took you away again, I wish it would have been after you got to escape the Citadel and maybe see it colapse from a helecopter window or something. They could have had a little celebration and show what happened to Alyx and Eli before the G-Man stole you away again.

This is the only game I can remember that started off in complete mystery and ends leaving you just as clueless. Great stuff for the imagination, but I'd like a little more confirmed info rather than just speculation.

Yeah, that would have been really good... it was an interesting end nonetheless. Nice dialogue with Alyx and the G-Man: "Perhaps we still have" "Time, Mr Freeman?" that just wouldn't have fit if we'd escaped the Citadel.

One thing that occurs to me is that Valve are keeping the fate of the characters open because they're not sure if they can return. I for one would be pretty cheesed off if Eli, Alyx or Breen turned up again with entirely different voice talent...

Freeman saw that the shit was going to hit the fan and droped another LSD tab.
Makes more sense than any of the other reasons i've seen.

didnt seem to bother you this time around. dont know who it was, but the voice for Vance in the first one certainly wasnt Robert Guillaume.

then again, there were about a dozen or so Kleiner's and Vance's in the first one. but they still all had the same voice for each model.

Gordon was frozen into time again by the Gman, that is all.

It would bother me now they've actually established him as a character, rather than a faceless clone who tells you to get to the surface. With the little that HL1 "Eli Vance" says, you can actually fool yourself into thinking that it's the same actor.... Especially as Guillaume did an excellent job of making Eli sound as old and worn out as the character actually looks in HL2.

About the ending, I'd say that G-Man took Gordon away, but only for a vacation somewhere, like on a long holiday from work, before another job would come out which'll be HL3. See? Gordon's got a nice work. G-Man hired him, about 10 years of nice life, somewhere nice and peaceful, no danger and then a bloody dangerous work and a vacation again... :D

By joe! You're right. And that's not G-Man it's gasp, Severus. He's got Harry where he wants him; his lap dog. :O and that big slug thing on Breen's monitor must've been...

>_>

Anyhow, I hear Half Life is a trilogy. In which case; the missing pieces of the puzzle will reveal themselves.

I'm not surprised that Half Life be a trilogy. The amount of time and energy the game takes is amazing. However, the wait should be substantially shorter, as this time they won't be using a different engine. But rather the source engine, with added polygons. (Not that Half Life 2's engine really needs to look any more gorgeous.)

I can't wait... For the four+ years it'll take for Half Life 2 to be released. ;_;

God that ending sucked. I played through the entire thing just to see so whacked out colors. I got more satisfaction from just not playing Doom 3 than I had experienced after beating Half Life 2. I think Valve got a little sloppy in the end, and just wanted to finish the game. That was the easiest final battle I have ever played, including Barbie Dressup. I wanted to be running around, fighting the boss for 20 minutes, trying to heal myself while being attacked. The ending was anticlimactic, and if I wasn't going to be playing HL:S, CS:S, and HL2:DM I would feel that 70 bucks I paid for the collector's edition was a crock.

Please Valve, give us a nice box next time. Not some flimsy stockpaper. Give us a final battle like at the end of KOTOR. Give me more than just pretty moving pictures. Give me a single player experience that will last more than 24 total hours. Just give me more than you did, and don't give it to me the way you did this time. I hate Steam, and I almost hate you for making me use it.

Are you sure they all died, then? Maybe they didn't. Maybe Gordon was able to take them away while G-Man stopped the time. Then G-Man waited behind that door that Gordon could take his friends to safety and then have a long, well-deserved rest.

Gordon cant kill neo, that sucker just keeps coming back, but he would certainly kiss his ass wid his trusty crowbar, and gravity gun lol
