BioWare and FUNimation Entertainment announced today an agreement to create an anime feature film adapted from one of the gaming industry’s most revered franchises, Mass Effect. Tokyo-based anime and international feature film production company T.O Entertainment, Inc. has signed on as a co-producer on the video. It sounds awfully generic, but according to the press release the anime video will “tell the tale of an epic science fiction adventure set in a vast universe filled with dangerous alien life and mysterious, uncharted planets.”

I'm just not a fan of the way EA branches their franchises of since it has generally had terrible results.

Take Dead Space, especially the cartoon films and the novel.

Also ZT, point taken, I'm not a huge fan of Mass Effect's storyline to begin with, but I still enjoyed it as entertainment.

I'm sure whatever it is, it will likely be mediocre, but I will be surprised if it is flat out awful. It's kind of hard to ruin Mass Effect since it's a pretty good game to base an anime off of; they could even make a series. It's got a bunch of neon shit, and moody characters like Garrus and Wrex, and cute alien babes for teens to fap to, so it's a pretty good candidate for anime crap. Don't see the big deal.

Also, I saw an episode of Cowboy Bebop, and it sucked just like every other anime I've ever seen. Except Appleseed, which is decent, but mostly because the only thing anime about it are the faces, and everything else is not totally stupid.

It isn't better or worse than other media. Claiming that it's worse than (insert favourite medium) is just as stupid as claiming that it's better than (insert least favourite medium).

Well, Cowboy Bebop is a great anime, great music too.

But the animes that have been made based of Western games haven't been close to Cowboy Bebop in quality and personally I think anime overall has taken a turn for the worst this past decade.

Wow, you worded my issues better than I were able too. What's even worse is that the more you expand the lore the more plot-holes you seem to get in the franchises.

Take Dead Space, in the first cartoon the Marker repells the necromorphs on the ship, yet in the game it does no such thing, though it "insta-kills" all the Necromorphs attacking you when you place it on it's pedestal at the colony.

Why would I watch a show that you wont even type out the whole name for? I'd much rather rewatch a trailer for GoT anyways.

EDIT: Oh, Ghost in the Shell? That movie was terrible. Back in the day, when I wasn't aware that all anime sucked, I watched GitS twice, trying to understand why it was considered good and saw no reason for it.
