Just played RE5 demo

It's funny u should mention the split screen thing, cos I got my xbox running on my new PC screen, asus 22" 1080p widescreen with my xbox on 1080p setting on HDMI and i figured that it was the screen or output setting which was changing the layout of split screen, not the game cos COD5 is the same

That said... i actually like it more now with each person getting a smaller, but larger, more viewable screen overall... yeah that makes no sense but meh

Anyone find the the first scenario solid to beat? I haven't done it yet i get ass whooped in that little hut all the time

It might not be the best RE ever! but it's definately worth the ?30-?40 price tag it'll have when it comes out, as there is alot more pap than this on the market, fo sho

It is a shame that you look at RE now and compare it to back then and see what a farcry it is from something as chilling and eerie as resident evil 2... now THAT was true survival horror. I know RE4 and 5 arent intended to be survival horror but i do miss the days of really dark environments in good ol' raccoon city, having actual zombies come after you... I think abandoning the zombie aspect wasnt the greatest move on Capcoms part, but it wasn't all bad since ganados and Minji are kinda similar... And i do love RE4 and probably will RE5, mainly for its story, but hey, ya gotta miss the good ol' days...

So I found that demo pretty much garbage. I spent the whole time holding out in that bus or whatever it is; the axe guy didn't bother me at all, and then the demo ended.

Dude, you aint playing right...

Also there is a second level that you missed.

Old RE games were damn good for the time...but the last time I tied to play one I wanted to kill the children of the development team. We're definitely spoiled by not having to deal with all the "there's an enemy slightly off screen that you can't see or aim at but is going to kill you" problems.

Nope, still bad.

The BLINDING AFRICAN DAYLIGHT probably helps

Huh. I personally enjoyed the demo, though I admit I wouldn't buy it...

The graphics were pretty good, but the controls weren't. I hate not being able to move while I shoot and your inventory is pretty hard to manage while the enemies are still coming at you. The AI for your companion is pretty bad too. I tried playing with a friend and my experience instantly improved. I also hate how if you or your partner die, you have to go back to the main menu and reload everything. This ruined the demo for me, because I found it challenging to beat. After a few tries of both levels, my friend and I both decided to quit. I'm sure the game won't be as bad as the demo, but I probably won't end up buying it.

................ I can shoot, I can move, I can give ammos, I can heal myself. Yup, I'm playing the game right. It's just that it sucks balls...

BTW, I played both levels. Both chainsaw wielding freak and giant axe mofo were easy as hell.

Is it me or is there like no "survival" element to the games nowadays?

I mean, old RE definately had less ammo/supplies/random amounts of money to be found than in games like RE4. I mean, you can skip a bunch of pickups and NEVER RUN OUT OF AMMO.

it's not that taht's a bad thing, but the "horror" element has also worn away during the years.

That just leaves . Who wants to play a game? That's not fun at all.

?... I wasn't talking to you...

At any rate, if he says the axe guy isnt bothering him at all, as in not attacking, then that is a fluke. What I was suggesting was not to actually change his gameplay style, but reload the level.

It depends on the game. the older RE games got away with it, because even if you ran out of ammo you could find other means to evade the enemy plus it made the game feel more realistic because sometimes you would walk around a level for a while just to get some ammo.

Other games, it kind of annoys me to run out of ammo and not get any for a while, and then theres no melee attack or it really sucks. And then your stuck at that place because you HAVE to have weapons to get by...

Heh, I forgot about the second level.

Maybe if the game didn't force me to watch screens such "30+ features in the full game, blah blah" after I completed the level and everytime I ****ING DIED (that was annoying), and brought me to the level selection menu instead, I would've not forgotten about it.

i thought it was fun until the ****ing chainsaw gorilla asshole.

i hated the old REs to hell btw.

Yeah, but I'm saying it's a similar premise and a similar game. Just massively multiplayer.

It might be because I played the 360 demo first, but the game feels awful on the PS3 controller. The biggest stand out is the camera movement is way too sensitive.

I thought the demo was cool at first, but then I started playing. Ick.

I loved RE4, but this is just painful to play. It is probably loads better to watch because it looks so nice. Too bad the gameplay is WAY behind the times.

all I have to say about RE4 is....

****IN' SACK HEAD CHAINSAW GUY

**** I HATE HIM

right and about RE 5, I recently watched one of the trailers and I heard an elephant in the background.

So imagine having to fight a ZOMBIE ELEPHANT.

(fine, "infected" elephant)

Spent hours playing this with my brother yesterday. We had some amazingly good times.

So imagine having to fight a ZOMBIE ELEPHANT.
We already got to do that on the zoo level in Resident Evil: Outbreak 2 for the PS2, zombie elephant, alligators, tigers etc.

The demo rocks. Anyone who disagrees is a big numpty :)

I don't see the issue with the controls, but then again i'm a fan of not being able to move while firing in RE games - adds to the tension an all that. The rest is RE4 in co-op, which means it's great. The pace is as measured you'd expect from RE and having to stop and take time to dish out ammo/items to your buddy can be geniunely tense, as is having to reload and change weapons in the inventory etc. These aren't control deficiencies, but conscious design choices - and ones that work. The horde is closing in, you better not **** it up!

Picking off headshots is as satisfying as ever and shooting weapons out of peoples hands never gets old. Context sensitive take downs, as always, kick ass. My only gripe is how the camera auto centres when you're moving up or down slopes. Hopefully the final release will have the option to turn this off. Oh, the melee/knife move sucks, but that always has.

Gargantou knows nothing - NOTHING - but the truth.

Played on a friend's PS3 and it was great fun. With some slightly tighter controls (Wii) it would be great.

This whole thing.

I think a neat design decision for that would be to make the melee/knife move's effectiveness drop the more you are forced to use it within a certain timeframe (say, 5 minutes). This way, one random zombie won't bite your head off, but you wouldn't be able to back yourself into a corner and hammer the knife button until the dozen zombies chasing you down the hallway are dead.

This this and this.

Also, you don't have to switch weapons in inventory. Moving them to the up, left, down or right positions in the inventory maps them to the corresponding button on the d-pad, letting you auto-switch with a press. So so very handy.

Edit: Agreed about the knife, but the game should be all about conserving ammo anyway. It's not going to be as tense (OMG THERE'S THAT WORD AGAIN) if there's a decent alternative to fall back on.

Fixed that for you.

All RE games after 2 are

small time
3 and Code Veronica were great. Sure CV has Steve Burnside, and the cross dresser, but it was quality. As for 3, that needs no explanation.
