Well, this is not so much a "look at this!" thread as much as it is a "give imput okthx!" thread.
I have this idea for a fairly "simple" mod, being that it's simple in the mechanics, but as I see it at the moment, it could go in any number of directions, but let me just start out by telling a little about this "simple" idea.

The thought is that you have 2 opposing teams, where one team consists of 6-7 small, super powered humans of sorts. And the other team being 2-3 Hugemonster thingies(6 meters or so high).
So the small guys can fly or jump high and has small but very mobile attacks, where ass the big guys has got mobility issues but immense power anda re able to commence in some slow but extremely large scale attacks.
So far, pretty simple - besides that I'm thinking of the whole setting being some sort of open ended defense sechme, where basicly the 3 huge guys has to make their way to a point, which could be in the middle of a city or somewhere else, whatever. And the small guys has to stop them.

I would love some input as to how you think this sounds.
Just an idea, but I wanna know how you think of it.
Oh and please if you can not give me comments such as "you gotta code all sorts of shit, it's impossibble yada yada" I know very well whats possible and not, and while it would be an undertaking like all TC mods, I do belive it is manegable.

Sounds like it could be pretty awesome. It would take a LOT of play testing to get the balance right, but it would be damn worth it.

You'd have to find something to make playing as the huge monster fun. It would be a lot more of a challenge because you lose a lot on mobility.
 
Hmm yes I actually didn't think of it like that...
I had some thoughts on it, and I have some ideas which might or might not work, dunno ^^
stealth.. Ok sounds silly, but combined with the right stuff i could be usefull..
How about you stealth and are able to do a super charged move once you pop out of stealth, for example a super fast/powerful shot or 10-20 seconds of immensely fast movement speed that maches that of the little guys.?

slow acceleration but high top speed... not much to explain, but could be useful, I mean a big guy would evidently spawn away from the smaller dudes, so he starts runnning and gaining speed.. sees a small guy, lock on and once he sees him fires a charged up shot of big bad bomb thing :p
The big dude would of course keep running since it takes a while for him to slow down, in which time the smaller guysmight have suffered a few casualties, but are ready to smack his b-hind.

Another fun ability to give the large guys, could be a ability hindering scream or something... this would mean that the small guys constantly needs to stay behind cover as the big guy can completely disable them for a small period of time in which he can nuke their asses :p

ok enough ideas for now, gotta keep it simple ^^
but the basics are
monsters = slow, powerful first attack, trouble getting away from harm so needs to disable the "harm" :D
small guys= very mobile, very vulnerable... needs to stay behind cover, think of them as bees and the big guys are... cockroaches.. or sumthing ^^

Sounds like the old Eradicators HL mod.
 
A team of class-based humans vs a big-assed robot called the Eradicator, which is near-indestructible and has massive weaponry. The humans have the advantage of agility, because the Eradicator is big and slow.
 
Not exactly brimming with information, that link, is it?

I believe that the original release version of Eradicators is still available on fileplanet, though :)
 
Sounds interesting, but I would recommend having the CPU control the monsters, and not humans. Unless the monsters are considerably dynamic and have a highly interesting arsenal of weapons/items, I think it could get pretty boring to control them.

If you observe each type of monster in UT2004's Invasion game-mode, you'll see why nobody would want to be them.

To make it worth being them, I think you'd have to tune them up quite a bit, and make them very interesting. Otherwise, as soon as a match starts, all the people on the monster team will say in chat: "nooo, not this team again" and "why me?"

With that issue taken care of, I like the idea of a mod like this :)
