Probably earth problems are more important right now than spacey problems but I don't see why this is a big issue as there are quite a lot of more important things to worry about than whether the government is spending too much money on space (how I wish that "spending too much money on space" was a contradiction in terms). I like the space commercialisation idea. It's probably the only alternative to people like Bush using 'the moon by 2030' - and indeed people like Kennedy using 'the moon by 1969' - as a dream, however noble, to distract from earthbound problems like, christ, I don't know, the economy, the war or the entire fucking country[/font].
