Laptop vs desktop?

What are you going to do with it primarily? If you don't ever need to take it anywhere, I'd get a desktop.

No, i meant if you primarily work or surf on the internet you'll better get laptop, but if you play games then get desktop. Of course it all depends on the power of laptop.

instead of asking strangers, why not decide what you want from a computer and go with the one that best fits your needs/budget/sexual orientation or whatever.

For a gamer there is more bang for your buck with a desktop.

If you just want to browse and email and stuff - then laptop (if it also needs to be portable).

I only work on my laptop when I am on the road, and that sucks balls. So if you aren't away from your computer a lot for work or school get a desktop.

I've got a laptop for gaming which cost me about 1200$ and runs every game I throw at it with great frame rate. I ended up getting rid of my desktop since this is all I need. Portable gaming powerhouse = win.

If you don't care for portability, desktop.

Also, you have to give us more information. How much money are you willing to spend, what activities are you primarily going to engage in, etc, etc.

Does it look like it is powered?

And also, if you're even considering a desktop, that probably means you dont need portability, so get a desktop. You get way more bang for your buck.

Desktop.

I don't even like to do coding with a laptop. Mostly because the time when I need a laptop I really don't have the room to use a regular mouse, or it's even more pain in the ass, like in a train etc.

Based on your other thread which for some reason you've just left, and now you're considering a laptop / desktop, you'll want a desktop. Laptops generally are more expensive if you're buying one to game as well. Desktop is your best bet, as long as you buy a good one which isn't from PC World. Let me know when you start to take your search seriously, in looking for a good PC.

I have a desktop for games, work and fun and very portable netbook (HP Mini-Note 2133) for simple work with documents and internet stuff.

The ultimate for me is a laptop with an external monitor. If you don't need extreme power, you get the best of both worlds (for admittedly a bit more money).

When you ask: Whether to buy a laptop/desktop, is more like you asking whether buy a dirt-bike/street-bike: They're both bikes, but for different terrain and purpose.
Lemme explain:
At first, a desktop came, and that was original, then some brilliant guy asked "What if we could take this marvelous piece of machine everywhere we went?" And laptop was born.
Laptop were meant to be for the convenience (Taking your work wherever you may be.) Sure there are laptops powerful enough to play games, but they're ridiculously expensive, and half the powerful as their counterpart. Also there is that one obstacle laptops can never get over, which is heat. So even if a laptop is powerful enough to play, say "Crysis" they cannot do that so for long; as heat will eventually catch up with them.

So, are you buying a setup, because your job demands it? Or, are you buying a setup, because you like to take your games with you and play wherever you are?
If your job demands it, buy a laptop. Under a $1000.00, you can get a decent laptop with all the features, space and processing power.
But if you're buying it for gaming, don't buy a laptop, instead buy a decent desktop: Its a sign of addiction when your games come with you to a business trip, vacation, honeymoon, or a getaway trip. Matter of fact (IMHO) games should never come.

Good Luck.

^ Smart talkin'

Gamers should stick to desktops as long as gaming laptops are expensive.
