Just got into steam and was greeted with this piece of news

Valve said:
New Valve Anti-Cheat technology caught a few people cheating in Counter-Strike: Source and other games this week -- over 10,000. VAC detects anyone using cheat software and permanently bans their Steam account. We expect to see a surge of forum posts laying blame squarely at the feet of "my little brother."

Go Valve! All cheaters get caught eventually :E.

Oh thank gawd,
HAHA .:1337:. clan no more speed hacks or aim bots for you, you go home.

*Tries to give dekstar hug and cookie*

Sorry I can’t fit down my phone line :(

I love these silent VAC updates. It's like an assassin creeping in during the night and slitting cheater's computer power cables.
*Loads up hax and CS Source*
"YOU HAVE BEEN BANNED FOREVER FOR CHEATING"
"What the hell? I didn't do anything, it was a virus"

lmao, how classic.

Isn't it grand? Little snotnosed cockbags sitting there hacking with glee, excited about how VAC hasn't caught them and thinking it never will because of that, and then one morning they try to login - and WHAMBANNED.

Valve should just make it look like nothing's different when they ban a hacker's Steam account, and just display a picture of Goatse boning ******* with the message "HACKING IS FOR EMOTARDS" when they try to join a server.

Haha when I read through the CSS forums on there, DwP always pissed me off.

I just played a war with DWP.
Only one thing can express this: :|

What's wrong with dynamic weapon pricing? I love it. TMP prices go down.

I accidentally bought a deagle because it was still in one of my packages. -$3700 is not a fun surprise in a difficult match :|

as much as i am happy that Valve is catching at least some of these hackers/cheaters out there, i experienced first hand last night that there are innocent people losing their accounts as well.

i hadn't logged on my Steam Account for about a week and last night tried, Steam updates and promptly asks for my account and password.

i find out the account has been disabled... WTF?
i have never cheated/hacked and never shared my account details with anyone so perhaps people here can understand my anger maybe just a little.

anyway, i have reported it on Steam support and well...i might get my account back.. and i might not...even if i do, i read there that i may still not be allowed to play on secure servers. :|

sometimes it just sucks even when you aren't the culprit but are a victim.

I'm pretty sure someone managed to brute force your account and cheat on it. That's what they're all doing and that's why you need a really really big long password.

Ummm disabled Steam account means something you were doing was way worse. VAC bans all you do is get banned from VAC enabled servers for that engine.

wasn't me that was doing whatever it was that got the account disabled.
i hadn't logged on for about a week and when i did, Steam updates and asks for my account and password...the rest is history.

i don't want to be pointing fingers because im not exactly sure who hi-jacked my account (because thats the only thing that can explain it) but ever since i joined Halflife2.net i have recieved serveral private messages with offers for my Steam account.

i don't get it...its just a ****ing Steam account, whats the big deal?
god....****ing losers that go through stuff to get a hold of Steam accounts.

yeah i am pretty sure thats what happened.
i am still kinda puzzled how someone managed to get my password (yes its a long password) but my best guess is that my brother who uses IRC (no he doesn't play Valve games) must have at some point added a suspicious script and/or clicked something he shouldn't have and that did me in.

hes not as computer savvy as myself either so that scenario is very possible...although i haven't had time to talk to him in the last couple of days.

Really? What offers?

Nobody has sent me phishers here. :|

hmm...well about 4-5 people have offered me $$$ in the $400-500 range and a few others while did not offer me numbers, wanted to know if i'd sell my account to them.
so um...yeah it could have been one of those guys who pulled this crap on me but i wouldn't know for sure.

heh, yeah, SURE thats what happened

Now that's classic - serves the buggers right...
=P

okay well im not here to make a believer out of you but if you think for second that somewhere between catching the hackers/cheaters and protecting the clean players, innocent people don't become victims, then hey...ignorance is bliss.

you can think whatever you want.

lol yeah, I love those people. It wasn't me!!! some one hacketdeded my account!!! :-P. Bull shit, you aren't fooling anyone. You cheated you got caught, deal with it.

today i am a happy camper :)
i noticed the problem and reported it this past Saturday, and three days later its resolved :)

this is a reason why Valve rules
oh...and for those wondering, i was told by Valve that my account was indeed hi-jacked so the smart asses who were making jokes about the issue can crawl back under their rocks ;)

Freeman, are they doing something about it?
Ninja-edit: Oh, it's resolved? So you have your account back?

yup.
i thought this was not gonna be resolved until some time in the middle of next week because of US Thanksgiving at the earliest but Valve responded on the 3rd business day.
that is impressive.

can't want to play again...lol :p

Lol, way to make yourself look like and idiot "theroadtonowhere". As Dr. Freeman said "crawl back under your rock", Cynic.
