I have heard so much over the past few years about how pot "isnt that bad" or how people "cant be addicted to pot" but I am beginning to wonder where these ideas surfaced.

I know why these ideas surfaced. Pot itself is not bad for you, but the smoke from it is. If you eat it, such as in a marijuana cake, you will get high with almost no negetive physical side effects.

Also, you can NOT be physically addicted to pot. You can most certainly get physcologically (sp?) addicted to pot.

Best of luck to you.

*psychologically, and from some of our drug threads everyone here already knows that :)

Good luck. It's a real tough thing to give up, but just stick with it and you can make it through the mental effects. Everything gets brighter, just wait it out.

if u mean physically, you are right... but thats not really what im concerned about. Ive smoked out of vaporizers and with those, there are really no negative physical side effects. unfortunately, the mental side effects can be bad for you. First of all, you could eat a lot of junk food, which would be negative to your health. also, you lose motivation so you might slack off on work, school, exercising, relationships, etc.

There may be no physical addiction either, but i think psychological might be worse. If you cannot even control your own mind, how are you supposed to be able to quit?

Don't get me wrong, I know marijuana ruins lives. While it may not hurt you physically, I know from experience (not personal, friends) that pot is horrible psychologically. Good luck again.

The psychological addiction is probably harder to get over than the physical would be, if it existed.

Don't worry, though. You're going to get out of this depression as soon as your body realigns itself. Just give it a bit more time.

It's perfectly fine as long as its used in moderation :|
It only starts creating problems in your life when you abuse it

I'm with Ikerous here. Johnmedz smoked it constantly, every single day. Smoking in moderation does not cause addiction of any sort; I know this because I've smoked as much as 4-5 times in a week, and then gone for months without doing it, and not even caring that I haven't.

well thats kind of the boat im in now... like i wanna burn one down this weekdn with my buddies. maybe just once or twice on the weekend but i hear from my girlfreind and family that its gotta be all or nothing. i dont understand it. i dont want to let them down but i keep thinking about how i wanna go out for drinks this weekend and go back to my place for a smoke and some God of War playing! why did i have to get this game after i stopped smoking pot?!?!

lol. going straight off it must have been tough after daily smoking... i would have done a more gradual release.

but you're too far for that now!

No1 ever sets out to become an addict when they start taking drugs. But so many do.

I've been doing fine. Realize that people have a much tougher time with legal drugs, like tobacco and alcohol.

It's pot.. it really isn't hard to use in moderation..

thats what u think... when anything becomes a habit, its hard to break... whather it be playing halflife2 or smoking weed... we need our vices to stay sane it seems some time.

I know a lot of people can easily handle only smoking once in a while. i think my mental health would be better if i smoked on occasion to give myself a break but i know ive already gone so far (if u consider 4 days a long time).

Its just all i can think about, it doesnt help that all my freinds do it so when they come over this weekend, the temptation will be serious...

why does life have to suck so much?

it'll get better.

just hold on. i dont think it'd be so bad to do it a few times a month but since you're just doing it cold turkey right now you should keep it up.

I've been in your shoes John and like Ennui is saying it does indeed get better eventually. Personally I look at day 3 as hump day and after that it seems to get a little easier everyday as opposed to harder. I quit pot about 8 months ago and cigs about 3 years ago and really, it's only as hard as you make it out to be. I know you want someone to "throw you a bone" but really you are the only one who can quit. Use the force, john, use the force.

ya i know im the only one who can quit i know im totally mind****ing myself by making this harder than it is. its not so much being high that i miss, but i just miss the times me and my buddies had and hanging out every night... i just feel grown up and ive always told myself id be a kid at heart...

why does it seem like the older you get, the more life loses its spark? Its like when youre young, you have fun all the time and u dont take anything serious, then all of a sudden when ur out of high school, you get thrown into the whirlwind known as the "real world" where u have to get a job that you probably will hate and cannot do any of the things you used to enjoy if u want to be considered a normal adult...

whats next? im gonna have to give up my games? maybe when u pry them from my cold dead hands

So the same argument goes for gambling. And alcohol. And even food.

And yet so many people are addicted to these things.

ya, nothing seems like it would be hard to quit until ur addicted to it. Why do u think everytime u ask a cigarette smoker if he wants to quit he always says "i could quit if i wanted to". when it comes down to it, these people have difficulties when they try.

Excluding cocaine and heroin. There is a good chance of getting addicted the first time around with them.
