I have recenty seen some re-occuring issues with lighting on games "made for" nVidia cards. (ie Far Cry, and Deus Ex 2) My fear is that maybe this isn't a game engine issue and that Half-Life 2 is going to be hit with the same artifacts. From what I hear people in other forums are getting pissed at the fact that these game engines are leaning more towards one single card manufarturer and that for some games patches are not being released to fix these "issues".
Each time you enter a room with "realtime" lighting (running on a 9800pro) these black dots appear. In Far Cry, they appear wherever the swinging lights are at in the second demo, in Deus Ex 2 they appear all over at a distance.
My questions and concerns are, will these issues ever be "fixed" for ATi users? Will Half-Life 2 experince the same issues, or will it run better for ATi users? I would rather enjoy nice lighting, than have to turn off my advanced shadows or high lighting effects. ;(
