Lightning strike zaps PS2 player

is the ps2 going to make it?

I seriously doubt that. 500,000 Volts and 200,000 Amps running through a PS2 is like cooking a chicken with a nuclear bomb..doesn't quite work. My friend had is N64 fried because lightning hit the tree in his backyard and came through the electrical wires into his house. His N64 was completely black on the back side.

NOOOOOOOOO thats horrible. actually no its not. sony sucks, xbox rules! /fanboy

I bet he's thinking "Wow, I didn't realise the surround sound was cool, plus that explosion in medal of honour was so realistic I went flying out of my seat. I am disappointed from that vibrating controller, I have got the shakes even now."

Another reason to get a wireless controller I guess. It could probably still happen though.

Why do I get the feeling a direct hit from lightning is not exactly what those surge protectors are designed for?

Unless they are, and I'm completely wrong. Which is very possible.
