My favorite PS3 game has finally gone gold :cheese:

In US / Latin America on Oct 21
In Europe, Australia, and New Zealand on Oct 22
In UK and Ireland on Oct 24

I find it a bit ironic that UK is getting it last, even though the developers are UK based.

Anyways, there's a few international sites doing LBP beta sites (A portuguese one and a french one).... No word on an American beta yet.

Oh, and anyone who plays the game during the first week will get access to a T-Shirt that says they were there during the first week, and a space suit (LBP Launch, get it?).

Anyone else going to get it?

I can't wait for this game. Isn't a demo supposed to be released on PSN soon?

Probably the only PS3 game I'm getting this fall along with Valkyria Chronicles.

Sweet, I've been planning to get a PS3 next month haha. This will probably be the game I get with it then.

I already have it pre-ordered from Gamestop (eww) for the Kratos bonus. I'm going to play around with my friend for a bit, then jump right into level making. I already have this great idea I'd like to try.

Wonder why us UK'ers get it later than anyone else?

Anyway, really looking forward to this. going to be great fun :D

Can we have a official HL2.net user group for getting together to play this?

There's a beta that should be announced soon.

For Japan, it's already on their community site.

Basically, a total of 60k people will be in the beta (20k from USA, 20k from UK/Europe, 20k from Japan and Asian countries).

I really hope we don't have another spore on our hands here. Expecting a community to build a game who frankly will have no idea how to produce a well constructed environment. There will be a few exceptions but I imagen there is going to be a lot of really bad levels :(

Took the words right out of my mouth Stormy. I got some flack for dogging Spore before it came out, but I see the exact same thing happening here. User created content for the loss, for me at least. I have a PS3 and I'll be avoiding this one like the plague. There isn't a single aspect of this game that interests me in any way, shape or form.

There are actual levels on the disc though.

EDIT: Hell, this is less user generated than Gmod, and look at how many actually contributing users that community has.

NONE I TELL YOU

There's a rating system so that you can only see the "top" rated levels, so you can ignore the crappy ones if you want.

Also, if you don't want creation, there's a roughly 20 hour platformer storyline on the disc, which in itself is a full fledged game. You don't have to do any creation stuff, but can instead have a good time doing 4 player online coop with your friends through the storyline.

The creation tools in this are a hell of a lot better than GMod or Spore. For starters, Spore was just creating creatures which is such a small thing (though it was a good technical achievement for Maxis), whereas this is creating entire new gameplay levels. GMod is also just a physics playground and in my eyes isn't that much of a game but just a little sandbox. LBP is an actual game though.

They provide so many tools for these levels, with tons of ideas for DLC. You can make races, normal platforming story levels, and even those "infinite" type games such as Fall Down for your calculator.

Imagine it more as the level design communities for CS2 and TF2 and such. I mean with TF2 they are packaging the best community levels into the content updates so everyone has them, and MM says it's thinking of doing the same thing when they do their content updates.

I don't see how people can't be excited. It's a kickass platformer that provides all sorts of options for user created levels and also a fun story campaign if you don't want to do any creation stuff.

Either way, this is definitely a day one buy for me and I hope I see some of you on PSN. :)

*Edit* Hm, I just read that Online Creation will not be available right away, and is a part of the first big Content Update for LBP, and they are already working on it.

Straight from a developer on the PSU boards.

I'd love to get a PS3 for LBP, but I'm already getting a new computer so I can't very much be arsed to find the funds for a PS3.

You better get LBP and play with us then :D
Oh I will. Two things though:

1. Haven't unboxed it yet

2. Don't have an internet connection at home

It's a split gift, but I'll get it set up soonish. Already got MGS 4, Uncharted and Resistance sitting. (All preowned cos we're so damn tight). :D

I was just about to post that. October is going to make my wallet implode.

Remember, those of you who want to get creative with it right off the bat may want to wait and go through all of the levels so that you get LOADS more materials and such available to you as you unlock them in the game itself.

And yes, this game will be more than 100 times the game that Spore sadly became. ;(

Apparently the level creating will be delayed a little, so we may not have a choice. :p

Only for Europe.

Only the online co-op creating, everything else is in.

EDIT: Shit, does anyone here have a Eurogamer account but no PS3? I want to get in on this but I don't have a log in >>

Um, I am in the US and I got one. Will it matter what region I am in? Maybe if I sign in with my UK PSN account? Has anyone tried this yet from outside of the EU?

Looking at Neogaf, some people with US consoles and EU keys have problems using them and some people have installed the game.

Try it, and if it doesn't work give it to me. D:

Hahaha. Will do. REALLY hope it works though....:E

To people trying to get in, use Firefox! I tried Safari and Internet explorer and neither worked.

Actually, just watched a few videos and am now left with the question : What's the big deal?
It's basically just a highly customizable platformer? :|

Yes, but think of it like when Super Mario World first came out...now imagine that had a completely customizable level creator too. Yeah, it's that good.

QFT, talk about a boring looking game. Run left or right and jump. WOW!!! 1986, here we come.

Reminds me of the sickening amount of hype Spore got before release only to have everyone turn tail and bash the hell out of it after a couple days. You'd think that after all these years people would see the cycle of new game development. Hype, hype, hype, bash. Hype, hype, hype, bash.

I'd love to see the PS3 get that one title that every gamer wants to play, but I simply can't imagine that this is the one to do it. Hopefully it delivers everything that everyone hopes it will.

Eh, we'll see.

I'm not going to hype it up, I did that with Spore and it left a damn sour taste in my mouth.

man, I cannot get into that eurogamer site at all.. i'm think i'm crapped out on this one

Man, what a amazing game. Played for two hours straight in co-op. So many things to learn though.

I can't get past the pod, when I try to load the first level it says "Can't create matching 2 game" [sic]. I guess I'll continue tomorrow when the beta officially starts.

Sigh, I hate these limited betas. I've been reloading Eurogamer all day to no avail.

Some NeoGAF guys got like five codes, you should go bug them.
