Man this game looks amazing and is due for release soon. Funny that I acctualy hadnt heard of it, as Im sure quite a few of you havent also. It remains a hidden suprise for those who seek..

Old news, great game.
I got to play the "demo" (2 maps), and Far Cry will definatly going to kick some serious ass.
The game is due to hit retail in about 1 month.
 
I have seen it. I dont think it is that impressive...i dont know...i just dont like too much its graphics... i mean the environments are huge and that is cool... but the models look like cardboard from a distance and the foliage so is unrealistic... like in all the games.

I have also heard that it doesnt have too much story. The only thing that could save it for me is if the game is actually fun... that is the reason it called a "game" :p. This is the kind of game that you must wait to read a review to see if the game is worth your money. I hope they release a demo.

Havent you heard of Stalker? Now that one looks good...
 
screen shots look aight... im looking for a game to spend my money on.. *shrug* theres differing opinions on here about BF, Halo and although i haven't asked (not that anyone would know either) about COD, these are the games i was looking at..

i tried the Halo demo.. the vehicles and airships are alot of fun but i don't like the weapons :(

guess i should try the COD demo and this game's demo if its available.
 
I played the first COD demo like 8 times from start to finish...I think it will be a damn strong candidate to be The Game of the Year...if HL2 doesnt come this year.:..
 
Stalker it so overhyped its not even funny, at the end its going to fall and fail, maybe even delayed till 2009 like Half-Life 2 :rolleyes:
 
Can't understand why people don't like Halo weapons?! They have wicked designs, I'm not really fond of the alien weapons but stickin with the human ones works great :) They're just so fun to use!

EDIT - Played COD demo on hardest atleast 20 times now, it's so great :D Fast paced, squad based, awesome!
 
Is it just me, or does Far Cry look like a cartoon? And what is "Polybump"? Is it bump mapping or what?

Far Cry has got my attention likes... in theroy it all sounds good, we'll just have to wait and see how it plays.

Technoligcly (omg i spell bad) its rather nice, engine looks solid and it should be a good laugh. Nice modding possibilties.
 
I may not like the game itself.. but if someone is willing to make a Pacific WW2 mod using the FarCry engine I'd really appreciate that.
Still going to buy the game, just so I get to walk around on that huge map...

Maybe someone could make a fishing mod for it too.. =D

The company made the engine first, that is their primary resource for revenue from what I read on the company site. They are developing this game to show off their stuff - it won't necessarily be the best use of the technology. I've been watching this one for months tho, and there should be some seriously good games coming down the road as they license the engine out. Far Cry looks kinda fun, but the direction they took the AI is to me a little too one-sided; some improvements & additions would benefit gameplay immensely, imo.
 
Im sure if its a successful game some enterprising people out there will make those changes to improve on it.. I just got that idea from someone mentioning the high res texture pack for SS2 on another thread.. wait was that you that posted? hehe
 
FarCry looks awesome to me. I'm excited for it. What's this "demo" you speak of? Is it an official demo or a leaked "demo"?
 
That editor looks like it's going to be the most fun i've seen since the Operation Flashpoint editor.
 
Actually the demo Im talking about is LEGIT demo, I was beta testing.
And it was awhile ago.

i didn't like the "feel" of the weapons.. and weapon placement is sorta bad too.. considering theres 3-4 warthogs (whatever u call em) and those airships too.. and their hard to take down unless u have some grenades.. or u can take the chance of running out to the middle of that map and getting hold of that rocket launcher.. assuming of course that one of those vehicles or airships haven't already ran u into the ground or shot u to oblivion..

plus.. i swear it takes like a 1000 bullets (with any weapon cept for nades) to kill a player geeze! *shrug* maybe its just me.. but thats my impression of the demo..
 
Wait! Guys there is a playable techdemo out there. I am looking for it right now.

Looks awesome! There is a samll one: 17.8mb and a larger one: 42mb.
I THINK it is fully playable and has some shooting.

EDIT: Now looking at these screens and file size I doubt it is playable. I hope it is though. Someone download it and tell us.
 
I downloaded it and it is playable.

However it requires a GeForce. It will not run on ATI cards.

not only that but its old, x-isle used to be the name of the dev's, and then they changed to crytek. so this is "x-isle" stuff which is pretty old.

You however, can come back and let me know after you've downloaded it. ;)

Also, it was the larger one I downloaded. I don't know if the 18MB one is playable but I presume it is.
 
Well "X-Isle"'s tech-demo still looks good and was still under development by Crytek. Although it may be old the same engine is used and Far Cry is just under a differrent name.

Bullshit, it works fine on ATI cards, actually it works alot better on ATI then gForce :rolleyes:

And BTW, the demo I played is ALOT more complete that that techdemo crap, actually this techdemo is very old.

Erm, no, the techdemo does not work on ATI cards.

It asks you to select which generation of GeForce you have and then refuses to allow you to play if you don't have one.

"The application failed to locate the necessary hardware feature support to run in '6th Generation hardware (Geforce 3)' mode.
For your current system setup the demo can be run only in '5th Generation hardware (Geforce 1&2)' mode."

When you select "Geforce 1&2" mode, it fails to run on an ATI card.

That clear enough for ya?

Also, in the readme:

"Demo will run only on GeForce cards such as the GeForce 1 / 2 / 3 with latest drivers."

F*ck sake man, get a clue before you start flaming people.
 
I have 9800pro but I feel like watching it give me an error so i'm dling it.
