I'm still a virgin, and I plan on staying one until I find the right person. I'm not interested in casual sex, one night stands, flings, and all that. Hell, I couldn't even give two shits about the sexual side of a relationship until I really was sure of it. Although sex is a wonderful thing, it's still only a part of the equation, and a relatively small one at that. I could probably get laid without all that much difficulty, but I just don't want to. I can see the appeal in such things, but it's just not for me. I've never experienced any discrimination whatsoever over my position; if anything, people have praised me for it.

Used to be pretty self-concious about not having lost it, probably through some combination of peer pressure and low self-esteem, but then I realised it really wasn't a big deal (especially after I finally did lose it) and got over it.
 
I think the real question in all of this is whether 0.999... = 1

This may sound heartless and completely invalid coming from a gaming forum... but it may be easier for both of you... have you or her considered euthanasia when it gets too bad? I've witnessed someone going braindead from a similer affliction... it's not nice. It may just be a way to save what pain there is from happening. :|

Well...no. We're fighting it. There are a lot of treatments out there that have been proven to work, but they aren't officially approved, mostly because of bureaucracy and the lack of any large-scale studies proving their effectiveness. I say she's dying because the illness is assumed to be terminal. Without treatment, it's fatal within three MONTHS in all cases. Standard treatments extend life to between six and eighteen months...usually around ten.
We've got a general idea of the treatments we want to use, the difficulty is acquiring them and getting advice on dosages. It's impossible to know what percentage chance she has of survival this way, but it's definitely better odds than the standard treatments.
When talking about it, however, I assume that she is dying, because as far as I know it's the deadliest and most rapidly progressing disease in the world...people who survive it are most assuredly rare exceptions.

Its a bit stereotypical, but its so true. Most kids that age are like dogs. Theyre really grumpy and demand they get what they want, and also just want to **** everything that moves...

And they are left sevearely debilitated, unless they're really lucky. But I was wondering if you had considered it if the worst came to the worst and she went into a state where life support was needed...

One thing I have never understood about putting people on life support machines is where the point is... I mean, you are just prolonging their life and keeping them in a state of eternal discomfort/pain with only a scant hope that some sort of miricale cure might be made... course, it would suck if a cure WAS made right after you switched her off...

If you don't mind me asking, is the tumor benign or malignant?
 
Hmm i think we need to respect this situation a bit more. Also, although im not fond of repiV through previous threads, i think he needs to be congratulated and respected for being so loyal to her...

The most malignant of all - it's a grade 4 glioblastoma multiforme. Benign tumours aren't really all that much to worry about.
Glioblastomas are a bastard though. If you manage to remove 99.99% of the tumour, it will grow back again to its original size in a matter of weeks. Not only that, it will be highly resistant to any form of treatment (since the whole thing regrew from the most resistant tumour cells in the first place) and you're well and truly ****ed. From this comes the idea of using combination treatments, before the tumour can develop resistance to each treatment you use them all at once in high doses to destroy the thing. It's worked for people, but it's not considered standard.
It progresses far too quickly for life support to even be a concern. The tumour will either go away, in which case she'll return pretty much to normal, or she'll die from it.

It will have spread through the body almost completely... hell the only thing that would work would be chemo... which is what your doing! Even then it doesn't sound like enough... if only we had nano probes... they could fix it!

Also, benign tumors can be deadly, if they swell and block some vessel by sqeezing it shut. In this manner you can get a stroke from a benign brain tumor! Although it is highly unlikely...

Umm...brain cancer doesn't spread to other areas of the body. That's precisely WHY it's so deadly so quickly, it crushes the brain. I'm not sure how you feel qualified to judge how advanced it is, because I haven't commented on that.
 
Yeah we talked about Brain Cancer all the time in my sex ed class. Kind of like how we also talked about football, soccer, and the opening up your throats for beer bongs.
 
I never got sex ed, but I got 2 classes of Health (which is required by the state) & Child psychology in-which I have to carry around a stupid electronic doll for a day & if I don't pay attention to it the doll goes "Warning: Abuse is iminent!"
