Heres my latest work. The texture isnt great, but then again im not the greatest texturer.

could we see an un-textured version?

it doesn't look bad, butit looks too smoothed. (ie on the clip and the clip-reciever)
 
Actually its only 436 polys. It just looks smoothed becasue I used a lot of normals smoothing (smoothing groups in 3dsmax terms)
And heres an untextured vesion.
 
Relying so much on smoothing for the cylinders is fine as long as you're looking at it from the side, but when you see it from the rear all of the smoothing in the world isn't going to change those sharp edges. I am assuming, however, that this is for a first person game and will be seen from that perspective.
 
nice model but i have to agree with spin way to much meshsmooth on there.
 
If it works, use it...

If you can pull it off, why not?

Use Smooth groups, if they are supported exploit them...
 
I'm doing one of those right now :)
It's a bitch to texture because the entire gun is such a plain grey.
