Oh stig, that was so fun. I realized how gay Sliver decks were....

I'll install this bad boy over the weekend, and if any of you dudes are free when I'm about, give me a shout and I'll kick your asses.

-Angry Lawyer

Saturday I'll be at a LAN, but on Sunday, I should be free.

Argh, I couldn't make it.

I'll do my best this weekend though. I need to plaaaay.

-Angry Lawyer

I don't think I'll be able to be around this weekend. Let me know what you think though AL.

Last time I played t'internet Magic, someone got so pissed off at the weird rules caused by playing Shared Fate and Leveler that they left the game.

Help with us newbs who don't know what those cards are :p

Leveler removes your library from the game, and gives you a 10/10 beastie for 5 mana of any colour. Ordinarily shit, but it has interesting combos.

Shared Fate is a 4U blue enchantment that removes the draw phase completely and replaces it with basically giving you a second hand of infinite cards that you take from your opponent's deck. Ordinarily shit, but when combined with Leveler, you get the other dude's deck, and he can't do anything (but doesn't lose, as it's not technically drawing).

I had like 2000 cards (I stole :) ) but I only liked the artwork (Zombie Master was my favorite, he just looks god damn evil!) I never played the game.. Too bad all the cards are gone now.. I wish I would've kept Zombie Master ;(

Kind of like Donate + Illusions of Grandure *or whatever it is*

Precisely. But Leveler is better, because it's so hillariously bad outside of combos. If you manage to mana accelerate to 5 within the first three turns, though, and have a way of moving a card from your graveyard to your library for a few turns, you can win really, really quickly.

-Angry Lawyer

Now, what card would you be moving from your graveyard to library?

*don't mind stupid question, I really am an idiot..*

PUMPDIPUMP!

So anyone still playing?

I've been playing the TCG for like +6 years (most of it with like 3 decks :p). So I decided to give the Online version a try, pretty fun, though the deck builder is confusing as hell and pretty much all the cards I got are banned or something. *shakes fist*

I used to, then I realized it was a huge sap on my cash and stopped.

I found better stuff to spend my money on shortly into 11th grade. Like manga. I still have my zombie deck though.
IBA.

I sold all my cards but they got ****ed up in shipping so I got hardly anything for them. I played the online game a little, but I didn't like the idea of buying a whole new set of cards for online play. Isn't it coming to Steam or something?

That's too bad, bobstarbear, should'a put them in that special casing stuff.

Playing MTG can cost a shit ton. I usually buy like three intro decks per year. The intro decks aren't that good, but I'm fine with it since people I play against also only buy intro decks.

For the online part, I'll probably stay with just the 9$ start pack. Ain't going to pay 12$ on digital packs...

Yeah it was like 3 years ago so I'm not too torn up about it... I just wanted more money. I had the rare ones in special cases so I still got a decent bit... just all the other ones were killed by USPS.

I haven't even really looked at the one on Steam... I assume it's just the old MTG online... steamed up?

It's just a bad spin-off game like Battlegrounds.

edit: nevermind holy shit it's the actual GAME

Angry Lawyer posts D:

'swhat I was thinking.

I have downloaded OCTGN 2 and have the cards installed. Randomly play with ****ers from work.

I randomly *RANDOMLY* buy decks, but don't have any urge most of the time. Free cards ftw. Also, Steam MTG? Gotta see this.

That Steam MTG is the same as on the Xbox, you get like 5-8 decks. You can win some extra cards for the decks, but you can't make your own decks nor really customize them. But still it's fun. Only thing I don't like in it is the timer, that kicks in every time you can do something. Someone has three mana untapped and one card in his hand and the timer kicks in, you automatically know he has a card, which costs three or less. Timer won't kick in if you can't pay the mana cost...

Man a friend of mine recently found all his old cards and one night when I was over there and was drunk he kept pulling all these cards out that I would suddenly remember, it was incredibly great nostalgia times

Then I retrieved all my old decks and we occasionally get really drunk and play Magic, it's great. The rest of his flat hates the shit out of it, of course.

I had a friend that was the same way. We'll get together and play drunk. If we don't have decks at the time, we just talk about it.

Ahh, Magic.

I have about 300 cards sitting on my desk right now. And I don't have any friends in this city who play. :(

I wonder how the OCTGN client is coming along.

That was always great to play MTG on.

The new version was supposed to be greatly improved, and it's coded in C# too with .NET framework.

The MTG Online feels rather buggy and unpolished. The GUI feels like something you used to see in those demo/shareware CDs, that game with PC Gamer back in 1998...

OCTGN 2 is very nice. Makes things a lot easier.

I started playing again recently, have one finished deck thus far.

Is it stable? I remember I haven't touched it in forever because he was programming it and I was waiting for a good stable release.

Does he have the nice pretty counters in now, and the working arrows?

So I thought that MTG was completely retarded for years until a friend of mine convinced me to play a game in February. I've been hooked since. I've only got cards from the last couple of sets though so I've got nothing real competitive. I have been messing about with Magic Workstation building decks that I want to buy but probably won't simply because all the cool cards rotate out of standard in the fall.

Magic Workstation is so 2004. OCTGN is where it's at! Playing with people online.

Would be awesome to have hl2.net games going. I'd have to bring myself to become interested in MTG again though... pfft. stupid game! Sucked up so much of my time when I was young and stupid.

I'd be willing if someone posted an updated install for OCTGN, otherwise I could just upload my up-to-date files for MWS.
