Not really, when you are looking for a plain DVD drive. You may want to buy it retail so you get a copy of some DVD playback software. I have cyberlink PowerDVD and I really like that software that came with my DVD drive.

Also, don't forget the Operating System if you don't have one handy. Only $100 for XP Home OEM or XP Professional fro $150.
