Making a Gordon Freeman Costume for Halloween.

For the love of god, does nobody else see that EvilEwoks only purpose here is to confuse and belittle us? I mean , look at his sig....look at his avatar....look at his childish remarks. Can somebody please find a reason to ban him, as i'm getting tired of seeing his accusatory\confrontational\anti-half-life2 bullsh*t comments everywhere. I mean it's possible he might stop and turn into a valuable member of the community, but i seriously.....SERIOUSLY doubt it.

Too late, he's used up his three lives. One of the SuperMODs has taken care of him. Now then, let's get this thread back on topic.

How about let people who made some costumes attach photo's of them, I imagine most will have taken pictures, could be a fun to see some of them?

I don't see any reason why they can't. The images just have to fall within the forum guide lines.
They need to be HL2 related as well, otherise I'll have to move the beautiful thread.:p

Ding dong the witch is dead.
Which old witch?
The wicked witch!

Hmmmmm... HEV suit...

Okay:

Black denim jeans and coat.

Orange perspex bent with a heater and dragged through gravelly mud to get that real "Scorched by Vortigaunts" feel.

Some tin plate that you've gone over with some steel wool.

That should do it.:E

I wonder if you'd get something half-life 2 related if you stopped by gabes or one of the valves fellows houses..

I doubt it. But, you might get lucky enough to walk away with a restraining order.

I have been tinkering with th idea of an hev suit and have come to the following conclusions

A. it would require a lot of sheet metal, some heavy fabrics, and a lot of work

B. It could cost anywhere from 80 bucks to 200 depending on quality and place of materials purchase

C. It would take a long time if you not planned thoroughly

lol

A. it would only require some paperboard, transparent plastic and paint and old clothes to put all that on you.

B. paperboard dont cost that much ^^

C. yeah but it would be worth it ^^

D. i can make almost anything with paperboard ^^

sheet metal.. lol
it's just a costume! if you want to make a REAL armor then use sheet metal ^^

i want to see someone dressed as gabe going around to people's houses and knocking on their doors and then say "would you like to buy a crowbar? they hurt, WE ALL HURT DOWN HERE!"

lol Mr. Redundant... u couldn't resist could u? :p

hey Warlord, if you want to use paperboard then fine by me, just don't come crying back to me when the Vorties blast a sizzling hole through your suit in 1 shot.

Now if you want to make an "ok" HEV suit you can use paperboard but if you want to spend some more green and really impress the neighbors and long jump all over their property, make a functional one

okay ,maybe not functional but at least it won't soak up water amd won't biodegrade

Now, now, now, people, I thought the general consensus was that the HEV was made mostly of lightweight reactive plastic...

Then again, that thread was a few weeks ago...:E

the thing is that unless you have a resin casting machine handy, molding plastic to HEV suit shapes would be a severe pain in the ass.

With sheet metal you could just make the appropriate curves and bends.

To begin making an hev suit either by paper or metal, its probably best to start with the chest/shoulder area as it is he biggest most solid shape on the costume. After that begin finding the appropriate sizes of the leg, arm, and torso segments relative to the chest piece and your body.

Once all the main body segments are the appropriate size find out and remedy any areas that grind against you or each other. Also make sure the suit doesn't fall apart as you walk, make sure each part of the suit is attached to the next. I recommend velcro or those little plastic clip things that are on some backpacks

Note some areas on the suit may need to be of materials other than metal, such as the interior of the neck area and the sort of thick mesh pattern fabric on the front of the hev's abdominal area.

Now that the shape of the suit is done, commence decoration. Paint the large areas first then get someone who can draw well to make all those nifty hi tech areas on the suit.

Tada, you have an hev suit!

Yes, but could you pee in it and have it purified into drinking water?

haha, freeman suit, gordan freeman suit, wacky Dune reference

yes, yes it can
