making HL2 and Ep1 look better!

Just pleasing my fans ^^

Anyway back to topic

Meh. Fakefactory skins sux0r. Enough said.

hahah after reading all of this...I decided to give this FF mod a try :D I wanted to play through HL2 vanilla again, guess I'm going to do with with Diva Alyx and blinging armor :D

Those screens on page 1 look like hell.

The combines don't look any different, but the other ones are....bad :O

If you honestly think Fakefactory's skin pack makes your Half-Life 2 game look better, then you should try other just as awesome "make HL2 look better" methods such as turning off your monitor, or uninstalling the game entirely.

Or, you could make your own Fakefactory skin pack! Simply resize every single texture, regardless of size, to 2048x2048, run a couple dozen filters over them, stick in some high-resolution pictures you found on Google (complete with jpeg artifacts!), run a couple dozen more filters over the textures, include a bunch of superfluous extras such as a pointlessly altered soundtrack, run a couple dozen more filters over the textures, steal a bumpmap skin pack from some Japanese guy initially and then later integrate into the mod with permission, run a couple dozen more filters over the textures, give your skin pack a super pretentious name, and finally run about 47 dozen more filters over the textures for good measure. Be sure to completely ruin everything about the game's look while you're doing this. Should you suceed, you will have created a Fakefactory skin pack.

People throw temper tantrums over the funniest things....

some people think that the textures make the game look better, some people don't. Just because you don't like them, doesn't mean that its "ruining the entire game waa!!!!" For some people its improving the game.

Weighing in late on this I know . . . but god, there's no way that cheap-tart version of Alyx can't fundamentally change the game for whoever plays it.

I guess if you thought of her as a skanky whore from the beginning you'd be okay, but I'm pretty sure that wasn't Valve's intention with the character.

Eli: "I'm so proud of my daughter. We escaped from Black Mesa and established the resistance, and as she grew up she became proficient in all kinds of electronic gadgetry and weapons combat to aid our cause. And now, on top of all that, she's matured into a very skanky young woman. Isn't her I've got a tight pooty shirt the cutest thing? I love you, baby."

But as others have said, whatever floats your boat.

You see, Fakefactory is to Half-Life 2, like FO: POS is to Fallout.

It kills the spirit of the game.

I might go as far as comparing HalfLife2.net forums to our boards at No Mutants Allowed. In essence, this means that they are both boards where people actually CARE for the integrity of the canon and don't like to see it whored out or mutilated otherwise. Thankfully, Half-Life was kept integral, something that can't be said about poor Fallout.

Though you don't have your Roshambo...

I think Fakefactory Cinematic Mod is the ownage.

I always recommend to people that if they want to play HL2 a second time, they go through it again with the cinematic mod.

To me, personally, it looks great, and sharpens the game up quite a bit with a subtle, fresh new look that maintains the original style.

Yes, I agree. Between versions 1 and 2, there have been 40,000 downloads on Fileplanet, and 131 votes for an average score of 4/5. In n00b terms, that means it's a huge success.

Slightly biased, though... but aren't all votes? The people who vote are the people who download, and the people who like the look of it download, and the number of downloads is not equal to the amount of people who were satisfied with the mod.

Of course this is true for just about everything. I guess as long as it doesn't force skanktastic Alyx and Dr Julian Mossman on you then it's alright.

It's Judith Mossman. Anyway, I couldn't think anything about FF except that it sucks hardcore. The only reason I kept it at all was to save the Strider sounds it ripped off from War of the Worlds. I had been looking for those sound effects everywhere. The only thing I liked about it was the redone civilian faces. But only half of them. WTF is up with that pasty guy? Thank god HL2 doesn't have HDR...

MY EYES!!! D:

FF music is not good. It's bad. Just... bad. Classical > electronic but not when it's uninspired, bland and flat out crap sound bytes.

Those screens are horrid. The black guy looks like he's been embalmed. And the woman next to him looks like she just felt a snake crawl up her anus.

ROFL. I laughed a lot at that...

Btw, snakes can't crawl...they have no legs.

Well, Its suppossed to be cinamatic, your the only person to say it sucks. Every body I know loves the music :frown: .

Anyways wasn't this topic closed along time ago?

Hmm .. i am quite curious about this now .. i think i'll give it a go tomorrow after i get back from college and then put my official verdict of it up :p ... means i have to run through the whole of hl2 non-stop .. but meh =D

You missed the joke. The joke was that FakeFactory made Judith Mossman look... like a man.

Well take my cherry and call me Sally. :O

PS: Actually, I think the problem is I never knew Julian was a man's name. :\
