Manhacks

OK Guys - I looked everywhere and i cant find a single thread on any forum about this.

Make sure you have maximum everything (detail wise) turned on.

Kill a manhack.

Look closely at it.

You see the little clear pipes coming out of it with stuff moving through.

OK - What are they?

Someone please submit screenshots aswell because my ftp is down. Thanks.

Im guessing its just the internal workings of the manhack.

It doesn't really matter, nor would anyone know more specifically except for what Hercules331 said.

*Steam crashes from everyone loading HL2 at the same time just to kill a 'hack"

Yeah well someone has pissed me off calling it a chain when its so blatantly a pipe.

I know its a bit trivial but hey..

Anyway, it looks sexy.

No, no no! It's actually a living see-thru worm which just looks loads like an energy feeding pipe thing! Really!

Oh, come on ....

Pipes, wires, mechanisms? You see the same types of pipes in the Citadel, only a bigger version.

This is a very small detail. Something most people wouldn't bother making theories about. :)

It's all about attention to detail.
Yes... and soon enough we'll be getting threads about cloud-shapes.

"OMG I found a cloud in Water Hazard that has the release date of HL3 on it!"

It just shows how much Valve cared about the game, putting in neat little finishing touches like that.

Although, I agree they have no purpose or function within the game but I wouldn't want Valve to stop putting them in.

It explains what is in Gman's suitcase :O

its definitely not a chain, im guessing its the inside pipes of the manhack, kind of like our blood veins and arteries :)

Either my eyes betray me, or noone has suggested oil...

It's mechanical. It's got moving parts. Moving parts in a mechanical construct usually require lubrication. Oil is good for lubrication. Stuff in tubes looks like oil (From memory).

Very cool. Not quite as cool as the big moving lumps of fleshiness in Doom3, resplendent in it's bumpmapped shiny sweetness. But cool.

I'd like to see a model that's simply oozing with techonological mystery, a behemoth of industrial might and dread. Like a factory prototype produced Dog :)

The Clear pipes that you are talking about are the man cable between the brain of the manhack and the razors. And the black liqid is the future form of infomation storage. There i think that anwers your question. :cheese:

the manhacks like most of the combine arsenal I believe are part organic part machine and as such I believe the pipes represent the same type of piping inside the combine citidel (the yellowish pipes that are actually veins if you zoom into them) there in lies your answer

It is obviously a pipe, and it does matter about attention to the detail that Valve have put into the game and its textures!

It's just a detail. Next someones going to start a masive theori about it saying Black Mesa on Alyx's t-shirt.

LOL! Funny shit. :D

that pipe thing obviously supply's the manhack with its much needed supply of milkshake, seemingly vanilla flavoured.

The thing's running temp is really hot, so it needs a constant flow of liquid fluorinert. Except it's high-tech Combine stuff, so it's Dark Fluorinert.

That's some pimp modding right there.
