Mass Effect Any Good?

White haired emo man? Why dont you shut the **** up and learn about it before shunning it. What a stupid reason not to play. I cant believe people still read reviews as valid judgements still. Like I said before, its a good system, its just different than what every other game has done, so nobody liked it. BAWWW THIS IS UNFAMILIAR IT SUCKS BAWWW.

Reviews are meant to be good judgements. That's why they're reviews. I'm not saying they're the be all and end all, but you know, they're reviews. Recommendations. God-damn.

I didn't enjoy the Witcher because I felt no joy during the tutorial. I'm waiting for the enhanced version, hoping they've put some 'fun' into it. Don't get me wrong - it looked extremely promising, even while I was playing it, but combat was just no fun whatsoever, the interface was confusing as ****, and I was severely freaked out by the return to good-old 'Nobody moves at all when they're talking, except their lips'.

Seriously, after a year of games like HL2 and Mass Effect, static poses when people speak is extremely jarring. I know it seems like a nitpicky thing but it's just - just so immersion-breaking.

It looked really good, hopefully, the enhanced edition will fix all that stuff.

That's exactly one of the issues they intend on fixing, a wider volume of character animations. The voice acting for NPCs is also being improved, which I am incredibly grateful for cus that was seriously poor. I think, though I'm not sure, there's going to be a third story arch as well. And comments comparing it to Zelda clearly come from someone who's never touched the game. It's nothing like Zelda, not one bit. The only possible comparison is that they both feature swords.

And ZT stop being so indecisive, this is the BioShock vs. STALKER debate all over again. They're both great games, just pick one and be done with it before more people post ignorant crap.

One thing you have to realise about The Witcher, is that it is based of the The Witcher books. That's the reason you can't change your character, because you are playing Garalts story. Gameplay especially combat takes awhile to get used to as to as with anything new, when the game came out i got help from here on how to play. The Witcher does have alot of problems but they are working on the Enhanced version which will also be free to original owners of the game. If you want a long deep game where your choices actually effects what's happens and is much darker and gritter and unique then get The Witcher. If you want your standard short RPG then get Mass Effect, it's good while it lasts but it's nothing new. Also we are still waiting 2 months later for it's patch and DLC that was meant to be out a launch.

Not really. The only time people replay it is when they start a new game with their current character to get to the highest level. Pretty stupid if you ask me. The story and quests will all essentially be the same so its boring.

Well you could also play a different class or something. Adept plays entirely different then a soldier (and is a ton more fun), and you could go down the renegade path as well if you want.

Also playing as a female shephard is almost like an entirely different game then playing as a male one. The voice acting if you're a chick is ****ing great and tons better then whoever did the voice acting for male shephard. With her Renegade choices actually sound badass when she talks instead of the "slightly miffed" tone you get with the male shephard.

so if you get mass effect play as a chick.

also lesbians

In the past ten years, I have agreed with like 3 reviews ever. Portal reviews, Half life 2 reviews, and some other game I cant remember at the moment.

I think reviews are shit, and are never good judgments. Ask other people for recommendations, forget reviews.

I played as an adept the first time through, so playing a soldier next would be boring as hell. As for the paragon/renegade paths, its so black and white that once you play through the game, you know exactly how each path would play out. I went paragon, but I pretty much know everything that would happen if I went renegade because its so blatantly obvious what the consequences of each choice was (not that there were many consequences).

Well not neccesarily black and white since theres no real EVILLOL path to take in the game, one just has you being jesus. and the other being an asshole.

Well I bought Mass Effect today, and as I was walking home with my friend I looked at the small print and went, "Son of bitch, constant online registration?"

Because my new computer does not have the internet yet because of god knows what stupid problem. So I'm pretty pissed. Is there a crack I can download so I can avoid this online crap and just play my game? Because if not I am just returning it and saying it didn't work.
Also, is this online stuff similar to what Bioshock had? With the only two installs?

Hmm, I don't know exactly what to look for, there are so many cracks out there when I search (or even how to use them). But I am finding out now that ME has only 3 activations you can use, and even if you uninstall the game, you do not gain back the activation? That's horrible.

I'll probably be returning this soon if this crap is true.

Don't worry about that constant online activation crap. You can bypass it with ease.

If you don't yet have the new patch & content installed, (I don't) then the below crack will work for you. It's the crack that I use & is infact copied from my own computer. I uploaded it to the site below. Be careful, as there are a few cracks floating around that are bloated with Trojens & will nuke your PC in under 30 seconds flat the first time you try to start Mass Effect. I know because it hit me when I was first looking for a crack. The crack I uploaded below contains the Save & Autosave fix, as well as the Galaxy Map fix.

Note that if you crack the game, you can't download the free DLC. It won't install over a cracked Version and there is currently no crack for the DLC. So your going to miss out on over 90 minutes of gameplay.

Yeah, Id just tough through the key thing to get the DLC. It's pretty good and is a good distraction from all the other sidequests in the game.

Oh you know it's one time activation right. So is there any way you can just activate it once? That way you get the DLC and you don't need a crack. Oh and Mass Effect gives you 3 installs, but unlike Bioshock you can't release an activation, and you have to call EA if you use up all 3.

I usually read a review and reverse the judgement to have a fair opinion. It works.

This is way to much effort to put forth in a game I spent 50 bucks on, especially with only three activations. I didn't buy a game to use it three times, I bought a game to keep it forever. I'll be returning my game and say my computer didn't meet the requirements. EA can suck my dick.

It's alright...

It's too short, that's the biggest problem

Does that crack also bypass the online activation?

Also, where do I extract the files to?

I started playing it a few days back, just got to one of the first planets (the ice one) and just got to the car. It's been a slow start but things are getting up to speed now it seems!

Lol that "car" can climb on walls and bounce like a rubber ball.

Awesome game though, the main quest is amazing and some side quests are quite good.

Also Wrex is so awesome, kinda reminds me of Mandalore from KOTOR.

It's not constant, you just need to register once and you'll need to do that so you can patch the game and get the DLC. If you register you don't need to have the DVD in the drive either. EA were going to have it so that the game would validate every 10 days, but because of the backlash they dropped that idea.

Wrex was a shitty character. They all were tbh. Ashley was the only semi-interesting one.

Tali or whatever her name could have been interesting if her story ever actually went somewhere, but shes a prime example of the game's unfinished storylines.

Yeah, I liked Tali, but she didn't even have a storyline beyond "ZOMG I AM ON A JOUUUUUURNEY"

A pity.

Thats my biggest problem with the game. The only character with any actual story development was Shepherd. In the KOTOR games, each character in your party had a storyline that played out in the game, and its what made the game so immersive and made you actually care about them. In Mass Effect they had background stories and thats it, nothing that played out in game.

You can give Tali that gift or whatever it is she wants for her to bring back to her people, if you do a certain side quest.
Doesn't progress anywhere from there though.

HK-47 > all you Meatbag.

Pretty much.

I had a huge amount of trouble liking Mass Effect on the 360. Everything seemed awesome, but I didnt find the gameplay all that fun. The PC version may be better though.

Given the fact that your character carries across into the sequel(s), I expect some of the existing NPCs will as well, so it's probable that their story lines will develop further then.
