Wow i started playing this game at about 2:00 and just beat it at a little before 11:00, i even stopped and had food and watched some TV, the game was really awsome but seriously, the first one was criticsed for being short and this one is even shorter!!

Wow thats ****in short shit i got it but i havent played it that much..damn..o well heres hopin they release modding tools soon.

Hmm, it could be a good game, but paying $50 for 10 hours of play is a bit steep.

I finished it too, but hell, I enjoyed it so much, that I don't even care. I love story-driven games that much.

Then u can go through it 5 more times with all the other modes of difficulty. :)

Beat the rest of the difficulty settings, then play the "Dead Man Walking" mode and people on the forums can post their best times.

$50 for less than 1 day of gameplay? Uhhh, no. What are they, relying soley on mods to keep this game going? No doubt millions of mods will come out, but what the hell is this? Seems so lazy.

/torrent

Well, after you beat it did it unlock anything? Weapons? Modes?

Seems a bit slack, the first one was pretty long. This makes me reconsider buying :(

Just for the record, I MP2 took me a lot longer than MP1, and I had a lot more fun with #2. MP2 was worth every penny. The AI is great and the ragdoll phyiscs means no one ever dies the same way twice.

Oh, and thank god you can have dual Desert Eagles this time.

I agree its worth the money if short single player is your style.

it may be just me, but I cant play a game through more than once or twice... no matter the difficulty settings.
and having New york minute doesnt impress me much either.

the meat of re-play value comes from
a. Multiplayer
and
b. mods

however in this case (as was with mp1) there is no multiplayer to speak of.. the reason they gave was the same cop out as last time (they claimed that they couldnt bring bullet time into multiplayer)... however we have "the specialists" for HL, a much much older engine, and it does it (in my opinion) better than MP1 did, and in first person.. with more moves.. in multiplayer.

now 99% of the mods out there are based on multiplayer.. because that is one of the strong selling points of games, everyone likes going head to head, team vs team.. theres no substitute for a real human opponent. (no matter how impressive your AI)

now MP2 is to suffer the same fate as mp1.
be hailed as an excellent game, then forgotten...
its got nice updated graphics, an excellent story nice effects....
but you can feel its the same engine, just modified.. it feels like max payne one.

I dont know, Im just really dissapointed.
especially being a modder, and waiting on a better engine.. I only found MP2 had no multiplayer a couple weeks ago.. quite sad.

now I didnt claim anything I said as fact, its simply my opinion.
you may enjoy MP2, in fact you will.. but the replay value just isnt there :/ (at least for me)

anyway.. heres to Hl2 eh?

I'll wait for a demo :| Although I'd have to disagree with Reduntant on MP1, it is well remembered by quite a few ppl I know, including me, I loved it :)

oh no I love MP hell I broke it out recently, after I upgraded my old pc, to check it out.
what I meant is, your going to play it, then chuck it in your cd drawer.. not "fogotten" in a general community type way.
I think Max Payne is one of those games that should be labelled "one of the best games of all time."
however you cant shake the logic that when its done... its done.

I heard it was supposed to be twice as long as the first one?

damn

Max Payne is fairly replayable, after the first time you feel like throwing it away and never laying eyes upon it again. Kinda repetitive, but I just broke it out on my new puter. The graphics still hold up, and I found it's alot more fun if you're actually any good at it :D not just hitting bullet time and loading saves 5 times in one room to get it perfect with all 8 painkillers like I used to do. I've just about clocked it on Hard then I'll go onto New York Minute ;) Let ya know how I do...

You re very correct, its around 37 Hours of gamplay.

Rockstar mentiond that its 36 hours.

May be the thread maker played the game without looking at the graphics details...etc.

he just played the game in fast action.

Anyway I will buy this game on the 23 of october. (UK release date).

Trust me i did and if they were saying that there was 9 hours of gameplay and 27 hours of analyzing the scenery then you can have fun doing that buddy. But seriously its Max Payne it is all really linear so there isnt much to see around different corners, there is always only one unlocked door.

Max Payne 2 just isn't a multiplayer game in my opinion.

mabye i shoud just hire it when it comes out in australia, if its that short.

Just finished it and came here to see if anyone else found it a bit short. Apparently so :)

I Finished it in 10 hours, give or take half an hour.

I enjoyed it but come on! Towards the end, when it seemed the game was about to finish, I just thought: "Is this all?" I just couldn't believe it.

Uhhhhh.....that's the developers opinion too. Since there is no multiplayer.

Not exactly on topic, but I didn't think this deserved its own thread.

I've beaten MP2 now, and I'm looking for cheats and such or some console stuff like in MP1 which allowed me to take some badass screenshots. Anyone know of a place with cheats yet?

Just like Max Payne, add '-developerkeys -screenshot' to the end of your executable shortcut, in the properties section. The developerkeys allow you to move the camera around in bullet time and stuff, pretty helpful for getting good screenshots.

Alright. Any way for me to totally stop the action and still move the camera around? It's kinda hard to get the shots I want with the action still going on.

EDIT: Any way to access the console so I can get all the guns on any level and such?

use the home and end keys to speed up and stop time, and getallweapons is the command for all guns

I thought MP2 was the perfect length. If you think it was short, go back and play MP1 now. I can beat MP1 in less than 2 hours, so MP2 is 5-6x longer for me.

Max Payne 2 is by far one of the best games Ive ever played, and I played them all.
I love the ragdoll physics, the stunning graphics, the smooth perfromance and the amazing gameplay.
Even tho I downloaded it, I might buy it to support Rockstar/Remedy!!
Very well done Remedy!!

I agree, the optimiztion the guys did for this game is amazing. With everything on as high as possible at 1600x1200 and I'm getting an average of 60-70fps and the rate never drops below 37fps. It looks amazing with everything on, dynamic shadows, volumetric fog, just whoa. The surround sound is also top notch.

Damn straight, Give Remedy that money, they deserve every dollar of it.

I play this game at 1280x1200 6xAA 8XAF everything on max, the fps never drops below 80!!!!! just amazing.

I gots a:

9800pro128
P4 2.40
512 DDR RAM

It runs perfectly with everything up.

I'm actually very curious as to how they got this engine to look so damn good and perform so well at the same time. Hell, even very complex physics calcualtions, like a grenade going off in the middle of a pile of 50 chairs (very cool sight to see) don't put a dent in the FPS. Although (not to complain) the ragdolls leave a little to be desired. I'm not quite sure why but they just don't look right sometimes (although they do kick ass).
