McCain chooses Alaska govenor Sarah Palin as running mate

You mean you've never heard of Sarah Palin? She's the governor of Alaska.

Strikes me as a clever political move by McCain picking a woman what with the whole Hilary-Obama ordeal.

she's pro life and pro drilling for oil in alaskan protected areas ..guess it's better than bush "drill in someone elses country after you bomb them back to the stone age" policy

Clever in the short-term, maybe.

Biden will undoubtedly demolish her in the debates. And this has undermined McCain's platform of experience. She's a heartbeat away from the presidency and McCain is not getting any younger. Outside of disgruntled Hillary supporters, I imagine a lot of people will keep that in mind. And with the DNC having been a hit among basically the whole party, the Hillary-Obama rift has seemingly greatly decreased.

The only other advantage that I readily see this soon after the announcement is that Democrats will have to soften their punches so they don't look like they're bullying a woman. They already have to preface every attack on McCain with what a great, amazing war hero he is.
 
I want to thank John McCain for putting the only real talking point they had to bed. Any time they talk about experiance at this point they will be mocked.

Just saw her acceptance speech. Not too impressed, and it didn't look like half the audience was either.
 
She was desperately trying to get the female voters to throw their hands in the air, it was rather cute really.

I'd love to see how the bigots who didn't want a woman president with Hilary react to this. If McCain dies in office, she will the president. Can the "woman-haters" handle that?
 
I hope this bitch gets demolished. Not because she is a woman, but because she was picked simply for being a woman to shake the demographics. There's little other reason why Republicans would choose a woman.

Well my thoughts after reading Wikipedia are positive. Now there isn't much dirt on her which I'm pretty sure there is, but it's Wikipedia. I did find that she supports gun laws and hunts, is against gay couples, and supports oil drilling in Alaska while McCain does not. It looks like she is more of a Democrat because she keeps finding corrupt politicians, mainly Republicans, and exposing them. She gets these people to resign, has proven that she has made tax cuts, protects the environment, all around it sounds like she is amazing. Now not looking at any issues we have for the Democrats a:
  • A young black man that is a nub in politics. His VP pick is an old, experienced, white man that looks better than Obama.
Not looking at any issues we have for the Republican side a:
  • An old, white man that is experienced in politics. His VP is a, MILF, white, who is hot and most importantly, is the opposite of her party. She completes McCain and equals him out.
Now that we got the VP, it's the debate's and I'm confident that Obama will just bash the Rep on war, and oil. That's all they have, it's sounding very tiring and bad now. To be honest, I really think it's great that she is more of a Democrat than just seeing her as a woman. Plus she actually gets things done rather than wafting around like some tard at a vending machine, deciding what he should buy.

Yeah he is. Only has 8 years of experince and this woman has 12 years of experince. She is just the VP to an even more experienced John McCain. From Biden, McCain, and Palin, Obama ranks lowest on experience. I have 6 years experience as a welder and I don't even consider myself a master at welding. Obama just has 2 extra years and wants to be the president of the USA. It's very funny that the media keeps shoving down our throat's that this woman is a nub and all. HELLO CNN, what about Obama?! the Obama - Biden ticket has more experience than the McCain - Palin ticket. this is funny considering McCain is running so much of his campaign based on the issue of experience.

well, there's 3 obvious reasons why McCain chose her: 1) She's a woman 2) she's a woman and 3) she's a woman.

he ONLY picked her with the hope of gaining the vote of Hillary feminists. however, after Hillary's speech at the convention (and the fact that he's not pro-choice and is against equal pay for women), it'll be hard to do that.

McCain isn't looking past election day. What if he dies after taking office? We'll be left with Sarah Palin for president of the united states! scary!

can't wait for her to be torn apart during the VP debates.

Palin is a social conservative, the Christian right don't particularly like McCain, so she is also useful in getting the Christian right out to vote.

That would work if the Christian right, had higher tolerance for women being in positions of power and influence.

DUnno about that, they seem to be pretty okay with the woman in charge of Jesus Camp, and Ann Coulter.

Besides, VP is a fittingly subservient position for a member of the fairer sex.
