Microsofts new MS Explorer 4.0 mouse.

Don't buy this mouse if you play games. I just picked one up the other day and I must say it really sucks to play games with. The mouse itself is really nice and it's really comfortable but it's the mouse wheel that gives it an F. It has this "Smooth Scrolling" and it makes it impossible to select your weapons in HL/HLMODS. I play NS and I have mwheelup bound to +jump. You have to push the wheel up about 5-10 times before you'll jump once. Scroll down to go to your slots and same thing, 5-10 times just to go from slot 1 to slot 2. So I installed the drivers to the mouse to see if that helps. Pfff, no. It makes it worse. Now instead of it being really slow and unresponsive it is super super fast. Although I can now b-hop as a skulk, I go to change slots and it goes from slot 1 to slot 4 if you just barely touch the wheel.


So if you're thinking about buying a new mouse and you see the MS explorer 4.0 (or any other mouse with the "smooth scrolling") stay far away from it because it sucks.

hmmm, I bought the intellimouse explorer 4.0 with my new system, and it's possibly the most comfortable mouse i've ever used.
I noticed what you're talking about at first, but it took me about 30 minutes of gameplay, and then i was 100% used to it. no more problem.

The mx510 is an awsome mouse, 8 buttons, accurate as heck, and very comfortable. And it looks cool it was designed for games, only problem is is that it is exclusive to Best Buy.

Don't buy the Boomslang 2000 DPI either. I figured I'd get used to the weird ass big bulky heavy wheel design, but it just doesn't happen. I don't see how that thing was meant for a human's hands. You almost break your fingers trying to click things, gotta spread your fingers out further than hell.. So, don't buy that either.

You can, but it doesn't seem to help in games. The scroll is still super fast. :hmph:
