Hey guys.

Since the city in the new world is now built (and nearly full!) I was rather hoping we could turn on the monsters!

With the gates and drawbridges implemented, there should be no trouble fending them off from our castle walls!

Does anyone have any problem with the mobs being on? It adds more dimensions to the game (taking damage = need food = need farm etc)
Post below if you have thoughts for or against monsters.

Current protection measures are;
1. Monsters can't spawn in the city, or within 20 blocks of it (unless there is a spawner+ dungeon).
2. Gates and drawbridges are available now (see front gate of city), these could be closed at night.

I could also disable creepers / restrict their numbers if it was felt that this would be required.
 
I say on, it adds a whole new side to the game, not to mention purpose.
 
Well, I'd like them off for now. I've got a side project going that will take some time to even construct a wall to keep the mobs out.
 
Also, before we turn them on we need to add a lip to the castle wall so spiders don't climb...
 
Are there any more thoughts on this? There's more on the whitelist than have voted!

At the moment, I will be turning on monsters, unless someone convinces me in the next 24 hours that this is a bad idea.
 
If we turn on monsters, there better be a damn good supply of arrows and diamond armor for those of us who don't have walls yet.
 
I should be ok. I'm working in the quarry now building the railway and i'll just block off the main shaft so they can't get me.
 
Maybe wait until Saturday to turn them on. Give people a day to secure their projects. The city walls need an overhang, and so does the fortress.
 
I'm withdrawing my want of having them on, twice I've died a few minutes after I ran away from mob. The lag means the server must think I'm in the same spot and thus the mob kill me. The lag for me is fine when mining, its just frustrating being killed after you've run away.
 
I wonder if we can reduce the number of mobs. At night they are EVERYWHERE.

I'm sorry about the lag, I rarely have a lag problem and I'm across an ocean from the server.

If this kind of think keeps up we will look into potential fixes.
