Movie Dlers BEWARE

AFAIK, there are no illegal files on my computer. :D

I r teh safe.

mwah ha ha ha! finally those cheating bastards will pay for their crimes!

lol,

here they come, knocking down doors.

There are illegal files on my computer...though..umm... LOOK OVER THERE AN ELEPHANT! *Runs*. Though none of my files pertain to music or videos and i havn't dled anything illegal in the last 2 months..god...im having withdrawals now...ITS LIKE GETTING OFF CRACK! Hard as hell..

This isn't gonna affect BT much. They can only prosecute they succefully download a full copy from. The file in only copyrighted as a whole, the individual pieces athat are useless by themselves are perectly legal as far as i know :D

I guess I better stay on those private trackers.

joking

As far as anyone knows they could of been montering everyone who has dled them, then tracked them down and just collecting hundreds of thousands then do one huge sweep with it all.

There's an advertisement at my mall thats from the MPAA,

YOU CAN CLICK but YOU CAN'T HIDE

As far as I know, only those who SHARE the files can be sued... but thats what I read in TIME magazine.

Don't take that slight margin of profits away from the filthy rich! I mean Game Developers make a lot less than Ben Affleck and Toby Maguire. So stealing games is bad and hurts our beloved industy. But with movies... maybe if actors get paid a miserly .5 million dollars a movie then they could get back the profits. That'll never happen though... that's why Hollywood must fall to VIDEOGAME WOOD!

PLEASE tell me that's true! :)
Dan Glickman, the MPAA's president and chief executive officer, calls unauthorized file trading the "greatest threat" to the profits of the movie industry in its 110-year history.
I don't want to know how many billions the industry's profits are when they're "damaged", let alone undamaged...

man, seriously, f*ck hollywood, i feel for the little guys, but hollywood sucks a big fat nut, they need to stop whining, i do feel for the guys behind the scenes, though, the crew and everything, luckily i only download foreign films

What the f*ck are you talking about!? Foreign films make far far less than Holloywood blockbusters no matter how superior they may be, so how exactly are you standing by the little guys?
I don't have a problem with you downloading the films, that's your call, but what the hell are you on about? Seriously...

yeah, the films i download don;t make it to the states, if they saw a US release I'd buy the DVDs, i have to get the fansubbed stuff

I apologise - I misread what you were saying entirely. Sorry:)

What foreign films are you specifically into?

eh, asian films usually, action flims and anime, nothing really european or anything, and usually japanese

Hmmm I only downloaded a couple of movies off of DC. **** Hollywood!

I dont think this will affect Bittorent. And if its anything like the RIAA they only sued people in America, so w/e. I dont much care, they made a huge scare about downloading music and nothing happened. Besides anyone who downloads movies off of Kazaa deserves to be caught. Bittorent or IRC is where its at.

They cant stop this tradeing of music and Movies, it has gotten way out of hand. Everyone i know downloads music and new movies before they come out in theaters.

what if u say that you ripped it and placed it on ur pc because u dont like popping cds and then go and buy the originals just to cover ur case ..
tell them kazaa spotted it by mistake ... it does a media search ...

thats a loop hole right there.

Hahaha. Makes me laugh. The probelm they've always had is that ISPs don't release private information. If an ISP gives out that stuff, they face losing a large number of subscribers who pay for confidentiality. So a private ISP can refuse the MPAA's plea for help, and they'll get all the p2p-ers.

But beyond that....
In a hypothetical situation, MPAA magically gets the info from all ISPs... in America...
I will only be amazed when they start sueing people in other countries

Don't get me wrong, I hope this kills kazaa fools, they deserve it. Most don't know how it works. Am I showing traits of elitism yet?

Good luck to the MPAA, they're gonna need a whole lot of it.

Btw, has illegal mp3 downloading been stopped yet?

The MPAA will find people who distribute movies on peer-to-peer networks by identifying them through their Internet Protocol addresses on those P-to-P services, according to the trade group.
They still need to get your identity from your ISP, and it is not in ISP's interest to rat out their customers. Have they found some way to make ISPs share that information?

Well either way I've got nothin to worry about. Viva Usenet. I'm gonna go watch Harold and Kumar now.

**edit: looks like my post is along similar lines as my neighbor Punisher. Bay Area 1337 \o/ ;)

Yup. In great britain it's only illegal if you actually get a movie and actively share it. It's not illegal, however, to download warez and keep if for yourself, as long as you never give anyone a fully copy.

That's my law anyway XD

The only movie I ever downloaded was Pulp Fiction, before I bought the DVD.

oh noes a jail centerance!11

bah, what good is an IP Address? First off, the IP Address can only trace to the host, then the host has to freely give them the data as to the user.

Guess what? No host (Aside from AOL) will do that.

ergo, no worky.

besides? Who the dickens actually uses P2P Software like Kazaa/Emule thesedays? Bittorrent = teh future.

and I seriously doubt their claims that downloaders are hurting the industry. Making bad films hurts the industry. No one wants a bloody shaky cam of a film, they still go to the theater. and MOST people still want a good DVD of the film in a box, so they still buy it!

no, now people are just forced to download the entire album rather then the one song they want.

Goto any university (in canada at least) log onto the network and you will have every movie that is out in theaters and a bunch more.

I didn't pirate movies until now, but it sounds like a good time too so I think I will.

How is Bittorrent not P2P?

I cant stand BT personally, as theres no upstream throttle, and downstream is usually less then impressive. Ng's are a much better place to find movies.

Their ads ran in my college paper. I don't give a sh!t.

I've only downloaded one movie from the net*. It wasn't possible to get it from a store anywhere. The problem with downloading movies is that the quality is inferior and downloading can take anything from a day to a week. Renting a DVD is cheap. I think the only reason people d/l easily available movies from the net is because it makes them feel all leet and shit.

* Jin-Roh was the movie in question. I just googled it, and it's going to be released here in just a few days. It took them long enough.

In Sweden im untouachble anyway so dosent bother me...:p
