yeah i sortof forgot to put it in, lol, teh flatshade render looks cool in firefox because there is no white background on the image.

no offence but it doesnt look like any mp5 i know. what references did you use? oh and err... where are the sights?

ive seen plenty of mp5s like that. just do a google search and youll find one.

Hmmm, its alright. You really need to work on the flow of your weapon. Its a common problem to overdo angles and give the weapon a generally unrealistic look. Optamise your weapon to give yourself high amounts of polgons on curves that will actually be seen.

Just as an example, the front of your weapon has some extruded angles with circles of about 8-12 sides. This alone has taken up over 100 polgons. If you took this out you could easiler work it into smoothing out some of the angles on your weapon. I would sujest thinking about what the player will see and what the weapon will be used for. It will allow you to make a much better weapon.

how do you know what it should look like there are so many variations of the gun.

Hmmm, its not about been acurate imo.

well yeah i sortof didnt care about doing the whole model the way it should be, mainly cuz i dont model for a mod, and cuz i am just way to lazy.
Mindless modder the ref pic u posted looks like it was taken in like 1950. here is the one i used http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/3488/mp5a252xw.jpg . but i will admit i just like followed the basics of this pic and then just got lazy and didnt want to do the other parts.

that was the variation i was thinking of. but oh aparently random.hero knows way more than me.

Rofl... It looks like you followed the reference pretty well, the gun is bent JUST LIKE in the picture.

a few different angles would make it easier to critisise. if you look at this picture, you can see that, unless the perspective of your render is obscure, your models too fat. it also shows that your front sights are wrong, no rear sights and no bolt to cock the gun. theres also the case of there being no trigger, and the fact you wouldnt be able to move the fire selector because its being blocked by an extrusion which should be underneath. the reason why youve modelled the slope at the front of the gun might be because your reference photo is not totally side on. aside from that, theres just a number of errors where youve indented instead of extruding and areas are very boxy. as ichi said as well, it doesnt flow, pieces look like theyre stuck on instead of being part of the same mould. this is just getting anal cause i could go into ergonomics, so if youre not using it for anything important, theres no need.

my first ever gun model was an mp5 and i spent bloody ages looking for references from all angles to get it as right as i could. i think this is just a major case of 'lack of reference material'.
