I can't wait to try out the free roam mode though.
My Multi Theft Auto clan is about to be brought back to life thx to it.

I cannot believe those guys who had the game last night didn't post their impressions yet? They were playing together on Multi for hours!

Ugh...I didn't want to be awake this early, I only went to bed 6 hours ago. Goddamn fire alarms.

Anyways. I was among the 5-6 people that played together last night.

I started going into "Party Mode" which loaded me into the city around a warehouse where there were a few helicopters and a bunch of weapons. It seems like limbo for friends while waiting to start a game.

After inviting everybody we were just mindlessly killing each other and messing around. The host can have the party entered into player matches vs. other parties in the gametype of choice. We started with 4 players so we tried hangman's noose.

The mission we got was the same one impressions talked about w/ the escape from the airport w/ an NPC. It was pretty chaotic for a while with lots of deaths (I'm pretty sure Shamrock lost all 5 of his lives). I think Qonfused and I were the ones that made it into a NOOSE van with the NPC and made a run for it while BadHat was left behind still fighting. It was slow going because we lost 1 of the tires on a mammoth of a vehicle. Cops were chasing us for a while, but we only had 2 or 3 stars and we lost them. I was playing on my SDTV and I couldn't see the mini-map well at all so I missed the exit from the freeway we were on. After a minute or so I see a broken wall on the freeway and just drive off it, falling 40 feet or so, magically landing upright near the extraction point. Unfortunately, ALL alive players have to be at the extract point and it took BadHat a while to get there, so we just lobbed grenades around for fun.

After that, we got a few more players and I left the party to try and figure out how to make private games just as the other 5 (2 more joined -briguy and Stig) played some cops n crooks.

To make a private game you have to start from singleplayer, from the multiplayer option you choose player match right away, then custom, then change the # of private slots to 15 or max. After doing this I invited everybody (we lost 1 player) and we played some 2v3 cops n crooks.

These matches were kind of goofy with these teams. The game would either end with the crooks escaping uneventfully or the boss being killed relatively quickly in a car to car gunfight.

After that we switched over to free mode. The weird thing is, I don't think our private slot setting carried over when we changed gametypes. Random people started joining that I don't think anybody invited.

Free mode was pretty funny. It'd consist of people trying to find each other and go on their own rampages against other duos, civilians, cops and whatnot. One time everybody but me was involved in a chase, they had 2-3 stars and they were traveling on one of the perimeter roads of Algonquin. I was flying overhead in the cop blackhawk (Annihilator) trying to shoot anybody and everybody with the guns (they are hard to aim and surprisingly ineffective). I got tired of flying overhead just watching the action, so I decided to enter the chase quietly.

So I dive the chopper straight at the bulk of the chase, bailing out as I crash into it. My blades hit a bunch of cars and they're sent flying just before my rotors rip off. I die from an ensuing explosion and I think most everybody else did too except one of the cars I tossed away with my rotors :P

Anyways. It was our first bout with multiplayer and its parameters so we'll have to give it another shot with more people or against other parties in some of the modes.

Sounds chaotic! I had to decline an invite this morning because I had little time. Tonight though!

All I can say is wow!

Around 6ish, I invited a few members, and we eventually had a total of about 8. We ended up free roaming for a few hours. It was probably the best multiplayer experience I've ever had.

Quonfused, Daggett, Shamrock, Amish, along with a few others and myself were having a blast going on rampages.
