This is amusing. Gamespot article:

Cooper and coauthors Eric K. Brown and John P. Newell are predicting that GTA: San Andreas, Halo 2, Gran Turismo 4, and Metal Gear Solid 3 will lead a pack of solid sellers (including Doom 3, Half-Life 2, Halo 2, and Metroid Prime 2) toward unmatched sales and revenue figures. With a flourish, he is calling this group of sales leaders "Murderer's Row."

:thumbs: I couldn't disagree, but he also forgot to mentions STALKER! Hmmm, I am going to purchase all those games he mentioned so I can say i've got the murderers row!

Forget Consoles, take a look at what is coming up for PC games in the next 6 months.

HL2, Doom 3, Rome Total War, and Stalker. Not to menion World of Warcraft. This is a great time to be a PC gamer.

The best game that will be coming out this year is probably going to be MGS3. The game that sells the best will undoubtedly be GTA:SA. Half-Life 2 will probably sell incredibly well for a PC game, and because of it's low system requirements will be out all of it's PC competitors.

It's going to be a great year, my most wanted list is:

1. MGS3
2. Half-Life 2
3. GTA: SA
4. GT4
5. Doom 3

Your quite right about the best seller - GTA:SA is a cash cow no matter if it turns out good or bad.

MGS3 as best game - well that's what you think, but no one can say that for sure as it has yet to be released.

So we won't say which game can turn out best of the year.

Oh and Ians, MGS3 will be the best game ever....trust me . Gta is good but will lost its orginality within weeks like all other gtas. FFXII cant be as bad as FFx-2 so its winwin + half life 2 speaks for itself.

I love the MGS series, but I'm still going to put Half-Life 2 on the top of my list. I just think VALVe's independence and that they haven't got a publisher breathing down their neck will give them the ability to create the best game possible by making sure they take the time out to tweak the game in order to make it amazing. Konami on the other hand are slightly more "corporate" in their attitude and I doubt they'd understand the need for constant testing and re-hashing of certain elements in the game.

Hehe...I don't know if I'd call anything Kojima did "corporate." He's often so far out on the lunatic fringe I have to wonder why they don't restrain him.

MGS3 may look good but...I dont know, the dialogue is over the top bad...it just seems like a lot of style with little substance. I perdict it will have huge sales at first but will taper off in the first month. The videos I've seen are stunning but the story line and dialogue were so bad that it was an immediate turnoff

I think Doom3, Half life2 and Halo 2 will lead the sales charts...stalker will do ok but will not break the top 10 in sales...too much of a niche market title

A note: the videos of MGS are never representative of the game. Kojima's idea of fun has always been to mess with the minds of the fan base, and he does that mostly through video. For an example look no farther than the entire coverage of MGS2...it turns out it had been entirely about a game that never existed, or was just the first twenty minutes of the game.

I still believe that MGS3 will be better than HL2. MGS2 is my current favorite game, and MGS3 looks to improve and innovate on that concept in every way. From a gameplay perspective MGS3 is adding a lot more to it's formula then HL2 is. As far as plot, well we know absolutely nothing about it, and what we do know is probably false or mis-represented. Kojima always does that.

If both games follow along with their predecessors, then they will both be two of the greatest games available. However, judging by past games in the series and information available I can definitely say that I will like MGS3 better.

but the dialogue! the dialogue!! it looks like it was scripted by someone just starting ESL courses. It's sooooo bad. HL2 has all the right ingrdients: graphics, story etc ..MGS3 just looks pretty with awful dialogue, the story remains to be seen but judging from the trailers, it's cliche

If there's one thing MGS is not, it's cliche. The stories are great but they often come way out of left field, the guy's probably a little crazy. I've seen the trailer, I didn't think the dialogue was that bad, plus it was taken out of context.

sorry I just thought it was horribly bad...I'll reserve my judgement till the game actually comes out
