someone on this forum hacked my password and has been posting using my name...i changed the password but can any mods track usage of my account like ip addresses?

Digging up the IP address wont do any good.
Anyway, you're responsible for your own account and what is done with it.

i realize this...but its such a shame losers gotta hack into accounts when they can just take 1 minutes and make their own...oh well i guess that 12 year old is leet...

Its actually very difficult to "hack" an account on a website such as this, its more likely they guessed your password, or you left it logged in.

well seeing as how i live alone...and i dont access this site anywhere else...dear lord it would take someone quite a while to "guess" my password....so maybe its not so difficult to hack
my old password..(which i can say cuz its not used for anything else but as my old password on this site) was tryunigvhe373

Well, I'll let an admin know, because the server would definitely have logged the tens of thousands of attempts it would have taken over many weeks (failed attempt lockouts) to crack your account.

ok great thanks...yeah there are about 6 posts that are not mine at all starting maybe around yesterday or the 14th...and im sure no one else uses this computer

Hi there, I'm one of the forum admins.

I've just looked at the IP addresses on your account and there does seem to be an IP address that was used that wasn't originating from your home for a number of days.

Unfortunately the IP address that was accessing your account has not been used by anyone else visiting the forum so I can't track down who did it.

What I recommend is changing your forum password, your e-mail account password and ensure your firewall is configured correctly and that your computer is fully clean of spyware.

As bliink said, it's nigh on impossible for someone to crack the passwords we have. They're encrypted the same way as your web-based e-mail account.

The only thing I can think of is your computer has beed compromised by a Trojan or Keylogger.

Give it a scan and a clean.

Do you use the same password for other things? Its possible that they found your password from something less secure and tryed it on here...

are you sure you didn't just get really drunk and forgot about what you posted?

no seriously, i've seen people do it on other forums:D

haha lone wolf no im sorry i didnt..well my gmail account has an entire different password than here on the forums so i dont see how they could have gotten it there...only thing i could think of is a key logger but i run spybot and adaware once a day on startup..and Im pretty confident in both these programs...otherwise i just dont know...are you able to give me the address or maybe do a reverse lookup..i know its futile..but maybe might work?

Dont be too confident in those or that MS one. I had something manage to copy itself to the C drive from a site.. while using FF, with all options preventing such things happening. SpyBot, Ad-Aware, the MS one, none of them even noticed it. The only thing that spotted it was the firewall when it attempted to connect to the net.

Shouldn't be surfing so much porn then should you?

He makes a good point though. Keyloggers may get in, but a decent firewall will stop it sending data out...

well thats how ive always kept my network....and its behind a wireless router with firewall protection...cant get much better for a home network...anyways i know whoever did this is watching this thread as we speak cuz his posts were like any other guys posts on here...probably just trying out some gay hacking skills...well i hope the feds bust ur ass buddy

wilson, a more constructive point this time, download "Zonealarm" firewall, it's the best firewall you can get and it's free, you have to allow each process to get internet access, it's stopped one or two things connecting that i didn't want to, IMO the MS firewall is crap, but thats cause i have no idea what it's blockking and what it's not

Basically our forum passwords are encrypted with a one way encryption, so even if our database was compromised it would be very very difficult for someone to get passwords out of it.

It's far more likely that someone's guessed either your forum password or email account password (and requested that the password is sent to the address), or your system has been accessed by someone else.

well im done with it...theres nothing else i can really do to safeguard my computer..so i guess the only real risk was signing up in the first place...guess im glad i dont do any online banking....
