Waiter 4 nights a week at a very popular steakhouse in my town. I walk out with 200-300 a night. I help support my family, I buy everything on my own (mostly), and I pay bills for what I use (car insurance, car payments, computer parts, etc) Im so sick of hearing jealous idiots like darkstar think the only way to have anything in life is to have rich parents.

I used to work at just about the best steakhouse here in Colorado Springs (The Famous) and I NEVER made that much in a single night. How old are you Guinny? The kinds of restaurants where you can make those kinds of tips generally don't hire teenagers. Good job though if you're telling the truth though.

You can't make the kind of upgrades you're talking about unless you rake in some serious dough.

At this point, you're talking about upgrading your awesome FX-53, your crazy MOBO, AND your freakin' X800 XT PE which are all top of the line. Most kids who pay for their own computers wouldn't even be thinking about upgrading for at least a year and a half with the kind of setup you have. It's just not possible unless you make really serious money where you work. Are you a CEO of a major corporation?

If you're actually paying for all this stuff yourself, more power to ya. But there's nothing wrong with having your parents help you out. Please don't get so defensive and please don't call me names.

I know theres nothing wrong with my parents helping me out, but when i work as much as i do, i get offended when people assume im freeloading. Btw, I also recently posted my job description. Sorry for blowing up on u.

and kidrock - can u ever just keep ur stupid ass out of a conversation im in? u come in just to flame me, and its really getting old, especially when ur not funny, and u probably dont have a job of ur own.

well u see, the thing is, is i got to know the customers. they start becoming regulars, and the tips get bigger and bigger. when i started working 2 years ago as a busboy i made absolute crap money. (maybe 30-40 bucks a night). then i became a waiter, and it turns out i know how to sell, and the bills on my tables were usually pretty high, and on top of that i got to know alot of em. so the tip increased over time.

Okay. Good job. I'm 23 years old and you pull in more money than I currently do, which is why I was a little hesitant to believe you. I need to get a job where you work.

Yep I work at a restaurant to and it took me just over a year to save up for my machine. I work fridays and saturdays (sometimes during the week) doing apps and I dont make enough money to even think about upgrading for a year and half including the wage and tips I make. (Im only 15) Oh and I thought you had to be 18 to waiter because of beer and wine. But whatever.

I have been meaning to ask you guinny why dont you post a picture of CPUZ on your system with halflife2.net in the background. And no photochoping.

Then maybee it will shut some people up in the forums. Oh while you are at it why dont you take a picture of that car of yours.

no problem blackeye

Ok now I believe you but thats not CPUZ but still a screenshot anyways. No more harsh comments from me.

i couldnt photoshop it if u gave me step by step instructions. btw what the hell is cpuz lol.

http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php

The link above is where you download cpuz. Its a great program.
Tells you everything you wanna know about your hardware.
Multiplier
FSB
Core Clock
Bus Speed
Cache
Memory speed
voltage
What stepping you got (only matters if overclocking though)

I know this is off topic but I was looking at the CPUZ screenshot and I was wondering if AMD added SSE3 Instructions to its 90nm cpus?

No offense, but I call BS.

According to you, you make $41,714 a year. That is $200 a day working 4 days a week for a year. Assuming that you work 8 hours a day that means you earn $25 an hour. Or possibly more.

For some reason, I doubt you make that much from waiting. Unless you live in an extremely affluent area. Even then I have a hard time imagining that.

There is one thing to have a job, but then there is another thing to say you have a job that pays that much from waiting. I know tons of people who have a college education and earn less than that.

Hey man I know Bartenders that are bringing home $1000 a night. Its not that unbelievable. Some of the waiters at the restaurant I work at make up to $500 a night but usually are making $150-$250 on an average night. On a busy one they make even more. The regular tables tip much higher then %15 also. We get the Edmonton Oilers Come in when they win a game and they will just order a couple hundred dollars of food and another couple hundred of wine and then still tip nearly what the whole meal cost.

Apparently I live in a crap city then. :/

I have a job of my own.. and my parents dont buy my computers for me.

Holy crap! Blackeye, where in the world is it you live where the bartenders are making $1000 a night?

Sure they don't little man. You dont believe me so why should your statement be any more plausible?

And blahblahblah - you definately havent been to NJ then lol. Here, they leave at least 20% tips almost every table. So figure the check is $200, I just made at least 20 bucks off of one table. Times that by about 20 tables, that's 400 bucks. Then I tip out the bus boys and the food runners each %15 of that 400. That leaves me with whatever 70% of 400 is. So, yea, I am making around 40k a year if you can call it that. But now with school I only work 2 days a week, so that brings it down to 20k seeing as i work half as many days...or something like that. I suck at math. :(

That equals about £431. As a bartender's wage per night, yes that is unbelievable. With the possible exception of an upscale yuppy bar on New Year's Eve. Or a strip bar. Possibly.

lol u live in england, nuff said. no offense but tipping is way different between the uk and a place like new jersey, america.

Hmmm i cut the grass (not home) for about 12$ an hour.
HMMMM JIPPI!

*DarkStar raises his hand.

I can't believe that guinny makes more money than me. Something is wrong with the cosmos.

Yeah I must agree.. new jersey is like the slum of america.. They must have more drunks then any other state.

Why are you in school? I would seriously drop out of high school (or whatever you are doing). The majority of America doesn't make $40,000 a year. I think the national average is $33,000.

You are seriously lucky. Only a small portion of America is making what you do. I personally think that is garbage. Unless you plan to keep that job forever, don't plan on making that much money at every job.

And no, most of America does not tip like that. You are living in the exception rather than the rule.

I always wondered how you could afford that rig of yours. :p

I bought a $1500 laptop when I was 13 while working for $4 an hour for a while.. There's something to be said for determination.

And there is something to be said about earning $25 an hour as well.

Guinny would probably die if he had a minimum wage job that paid $5.25 an hour.

Holy crap! Blackeye, where in the world is it you live where the bartenders are making $1000 a night?
The clubs downtown get a lot of business. Of coarse a bartender at a restaurant is only going to make a fraction of that. Obviously a lot of you guys have not worked in restaurants if you think that is so unbelievable. These bartenders are working 12-14 hour days sometimes more and are bringing home $1000 in cash a night. One of the cooks on the line where I work said that he used to work 6 nights a week as a bartender and was working 16 hour days making a grand a night. Its not what most people make it out to be. Of coarse if your working 16 hours a day for 6 days a week it may seem like a lot of work but this guy would make as much money in 1 week as most people would make in a month. Its actually fun work its not like its a grease joint like mcdonalds.

Dont start with the flame bait man because they didnt lie to me because I have talked to many bartenders and they say at the clubs downtown most are making $1000 a night.

You probably dont work at a restaurant so you dont know shit about them, just that your food is delivered to your table.

hmm no i dont but 2 of my brothers did and i have never even heard of someone earning that much

I'm sorry, but a person working at Red Lobster or The Olive Garden is not making that much money.

Jobs that pay a $1000 a night are the rare exception, not the rule.

I didnt say they work at olive garden did I!!

Go read the post again!

I still dont understand what is so hard to undestand. Why would I need to lie to you. Its the truth and nothing but the truth. Maybee you guys live in a boring city where everyone sits on their asses all day and all night.

guinny owns :D

dude im 13 and i volunteer and i I try to bring good grades home (im a freshman).

if i get A's in everything on my report card, which is delivered home in two weeks, i get to get a pretty good rig. right now i do have an A in everything except one class, and trust me, im workin hard do bring that up. and this is especially hard cause im taking honors classes for everything PLUS a foreign language. so yeah, i work hard too
