Hi All

Just reading a few comments on the delay threads.

One very good point that occured to me is all the official Valve comments on the release date has always been 30th Sep, 2003. All of them. Even at the recent ECTS show.

Now if HL2 was going to be delayed at this point in time I think Valve would of let us know by now. They are all for the community. Everyone knows this. If HL2 is delayed it would be extremly rude for them to tell us 2 weeks before the date we have all known and loved. 30th September.

All the October, November and even Feb dates are all dates from all game retailers and Videndi who have nothing to do with making the actual game. Do these guys know what the current bug they are dealing with in HL2? No way.

I'm totally convinced and have faith in Valve that they will announce HL2 Gold VERY soon. Quote me if I'm wrong.

With new evidence with the launch of the new ATI 9800 card, which so happens to be on 30th September aswell. Now why on earth, out of all the days ATI could launch a new card, it just happens to be on the same release day as HL2.

Guys all of this isn't bloody Rocket Science. You do the Math with the dates here...

Theres no need for everyone to get so involved and be so deep when it comes to the release. Valve said Sept 30th. The game will come out on September 30th. Trust me...

Finally a positive thinking !

The game is on schedule, Period !

Lets see who the first person is to reply to this thread with some form of negativity. "Oh but I heard November" or "Someone told me its delayed". It's innevitable...

I thought the same thing.

But guys 14 days. 2 weeks. Just so close. In 2 weeks time imagine this forum. Spoiler Alert threads. Help threads with problems playing the game. 'How the hell do I kill that strider'.

This is a very exciting time for us. And I truly think Valve are still on track.

I've had Faith in Valve ever since I rode the tram into Black Mesa. These guys are amazing. *cheers, and a big thumbs up to valve, september 30th will be a day all gamers remember!*

Hear, hear!

Release date is 30th September until Valve proves otherwise.

I dont know why people are talking about delaying HL2 and valve said repeatdly that the game will be released on 30 September...

I guess its a matter of either you Trust Valve or you dont !

and I trust that Valve will deliver the game on schedule !

Fact of the matter is this, if they keep saying its sept 30th, then you can bet your ass they are working around the clock to finish it up. They are playtesting etc, the game itself is done which means they are working any bugs out etc. I wish everyone would calm down, there has been no statement from valve (you know, the people making hl2?) about a delay, so where the hell are all these rumors coming from? I will tell you, the same people who claim to have seen the lockness monster and bigfoot but didnt manage to snap a photo because they left the cap on the lens! Now pipe down already, until gabe himself says its delayed there is no reason to think otherwise, end of discussion.

Good point DjBourgeoisie

Ever since HL2 was announced it has been always 30th September. Ever since then they have been working there butts off for this date.

Personally, I think there are multiple retail release dates floating around out there, and I think they break down something like this:

1) September 30: This is the official release date for both U.S. retail and worldwide over Steam.

2) November: Release date for non-U.S. retail (and possibly the Collector's Edition).

3) February 2004: XBox release.

In essence, they're all genuine release dates, they're just not all talking about the same product.

If it's September the 30th in the USA, then it is for the rest of the world too.

After reading all the recent articles, I believe the benchmark utility will be released on the 30th, and the game will follow 50 days later on November 19th, the EB date.
In one of the recent articles, the author mentioned fans would get the benchmark utility on the 30th, with the game following about 45 days later.

NoGodForMe its people like you that create myths, and every time that myth is told it changes. GABE MOTHER ****ING NEWELL SAID: "September 30th" 3 months ago! and he said "SEPTEMBER MOTHER ****ING 30th" last week! Jesus mother ****ing **** rag cock blocking christ. Someone should enable a feature on this message board that makes a gun pop out of your screen and shoot you in the face if you use any other date than "Sept 30th" or the word "delay" God damn...

Calm down man. Just because Nogodforme is a retard doesn't mean you have to yell at him.

I always yell at retards, I have a bad reputation in my town. Retards should be confined to help centers, not HL2 message boards to post the same repetative topics over and over with no consuquences.

What the hell makes you think they have to tell you when the game goes gold? I personally believe it's gone gold under hush hush, and is going to woo all the boys and girls with its september 30th release date.

Be optimistic people! I am.

Half-Life 2
Rome: Total War

Two games I'm looking forward to with my new rig.

I personally think the game will ship worldwide on 9/30, and then the Collectors Edition sometime in November. Followed by the Xbox release in Feb 2004.

I hope...

I mean, it makes sense. Once HL 2 is all said and done shipping wise on the PC, during this shipping time they will be releasing the code and game itself to the publisher for the Xbox version. If there was going to be a delay into November, then the Xbox version will probably see a Summer 2004 release.

Based on Erik's comments about Steam, I think HL2 will be delayed. Since Steam is HL2's primary server browser, updater, and for -- people who buy it this way -- content delivery system, they cannot release HL2 until Steam is absolutely solid. It is far from being absolutely solid. The Steam release was a train wreck. If it had gone well, I would be more confident. As it is, I'm not. I think they're too scared right now to even release the OLD HL2 videos that were on Steam to start with.

I also don't like the way people who don't think 9/30 is feasible are treated on this board. The release date is not religion. Not believing in 9/30 doesn't make us Valve haters, heretics, or Anti-HL2. I love the Half-Life franchise, but release dates are educated guesses by the developers. If Valve can't make it, they are free to change it, even at 11:59PM on Sept 29th.

Ive even heard rumours that some sites are pushing dates back to November to get the community to check there sites like when we make news posts about certain shops pushing dates back its good publicity for them and they know this.

Could this be true?

I doubt it 6iXx

This is the first time I've actually seen the hl2.net community actually band together and say, 'In Valve we trust!'. Well some people have been nay sayers sitting in their towers, but that was only one or two people in this post. I'm not saying it's 100% definite that it's going to be released on September 30th, because hey, nothing in this life is certain. But, Valve has told us September 30th, and until they tell us otherwise (I doubt they will considering it's very close to being done and they probably will release it on Sept.30th), the release date IS sept.30th.(full stop)

Its not gonna make Sep 30th. They are just trying to keep the hype going, its called business.

It Valve wanted to generate interest in the game they could do it in a lot of different ways.

Valve aren't like that. If they wanted to keep the "Hype going" they could release a new movie or release more details.

Just pretending that it's not delayed for the sake of hype will only anger a lot of people.

lol. try reading it again, it wasn't about valve trying to get more publicity.

My two cents, is that when they do announce it gold *if they even do so*, they'll release a heap load of information that im sure a bunch of us would like to hear.

Actually, they won't release any more information about the game.

including the last 3 videos? Maybe they're holding off on those videos just to get the game out by 9/30?
