My Comments on 'Delayed' Rumours

Ok, there are a couple of things, after VALVe saying its going to bee close, obvious reasons for this are last finishing touches and essential components.

Its already been stated about the additional coding time required for the NV3x path, and of course, someone realised a page back that STEAM was fairly important.
Steam is the backend for networking and cheat prevention in HL2 and future VALVe pruducts. Although steam is important to VALVe, its not quite 24/7 important, so ask yourself this, why would they be working on it 24/7 even over the weekend?
You've proved yourselves a decisive bunch, i don't expect you'll have any trouble working out why ;)

They are fully aware of how much work steam requires and what it means, there is always time to get the important bits in, but they cannot predict any major problems occuring, so as far as they know, it should be done for the 30th, lets hope them god speed in coding and bug squashing so they can hit their target...

I'd like to mention that they only found out about the poor performance of NVIdia before E3, probably after they announced the 30th of September date.

And, realisticly, working on Steam 24/7 was probably just a figure of speech. It means that they are working hard on Steam.

Also the Half-Life 2 team and the Steam team are different.

Of course 24/7 is a figure of speach, its almost impossible to stay concentrated that long :), but its still quite heavily being worked on, it HAS to be ready before HL2 goes gold, its no good if its like it is now, there would be uproar both in and out of the HL community :(
I belive Erik works on steam as well, though like most people at VALVe, they cross over in their jobs.

Its not gonna make Sep 30th. They are just trying to keep the hype going, its called business.

Where the **** did you go to business school? We ARE there business. And if they piss us off. People WILL actually not by the game. Valve has always treated the community with respect. Putting themselves no higher than the average gamer. They do not lie to us. And the whole Valve team HATES hype. They never even tried to create any hype. So I dunno what the hell your talkin about...

Whoa GO razorblade kiss!

I agree that the whole posting "delayed" or "when is it going gold" threads are sounding like a broken record...give it a rest!!!!
As for the whole "Sept 30th" thing......When have Valve, I repeat Valve said any different. Some people are by nature moaners and fell the need to post their "the sky is falling" threads every 5 minutes.
I also think that we won't hear any "It's gone gold" threads or announcements.
Half-Life 2 will just be in stores Sept 30th.Done and dusted!!

I don't know why you guys keep on laying to yourselves. The game is not coming out on Sept the 30th. As i have stated before, even if it does manage to make it on time throught Steam, the demand will be so high that, it will take days before people get to actualy play the game.

RazorBlade Kiss, for everyone you flamed, I just wanna say

I TOLD YOU SO.

Go back to the middle of page 1 and read my prediction. The only thing that's different, is the EB date of the 14th.

we shall see what happens. But i still think it will be delayed 2weeks to a month tops.

I dont belive the email beacuse its only on shacknews and forums, no offical gamesites like gamespot and pczone etc and it had not been a confirmed email.

If they make the retail release and steam release on sept 30th, i will weep for victory :)
