My first relitively 'NEW' car! \o/

Really, both numbers are stupid. The whole, "MY CAR HAS MORE HP" or "MORE TORQUE" is just penis sizes. Really, if they are in the same class in a race, it all comes down to the driver. There is a reason they are in the same class. You don't see cars that are 500hp/450 torque in the same class, because that's just dumb. But a 150/290 and a 240/160 are in the same class. It comes down to the driver in the end.

The ONLY thing I was arguing with you about, higgy, was the whole handling thing. I'm not saying my engine is superior in any way, shape or form. I KNOW my car is really high up there in the handling scene, though , trust me, I've been told by a million people it's, "Slow". But on the track, you can have a much faster car, but really, if you can't accelerate through the many many turns, you have the good chance to lose.

That was drunk guy talk, essentially, I was just saying the whole HP/TQ numbers are dumb to argue about, and the proof at the tracks is where it's at.

*EDIT* Higlac, are you some sort of Mustang spokes person, or a fanboy by chance? Get out of Shelby's ass, please. Not gods gift to cars. And copy/pasting info. Awesome *clap clap clap* *insert motivational poster here* COPY/PASTE Wins any argument

These two cars will perform very differently, and again, it really depends on the style of race, all other factors being equal.

The 240 would demolish on oval or mostly flat and long track. The 150 would own a hill climb. Driving won't make up for the inadequately powered car unless the driver of the adequately powered car is really bad.

But yeah, other than that, that thing you said.

I drive a mustang, and I use examples that are close to home. But it really irks me when people just instantly bash one type of car over another? I could just as easily say that you're an anti-mustang pro-mazda fanboy. I've driven a 1st gen Rx7, and my car does handle better, that might have just been the state of the car though (and some random dyslexia might have switched a number to start the arguement). The shelby quote was just something I remembered and googled to find the source.

Now, the whole reason you're calling me a "Anti-Mustang" guy, or whatever, is because I essentially just shoved in your face about you're trying to make the Mustang shine in light as if it doesn't matter whats better/faster/whatever, it's still a winner. And people like you are the reason I really dislike Mustang owners. Mustangs themselves are fine, but the majority of the owners have your mentality on the car. Let me help.

but the Rx8 did have the better slalom speed, which I would say is more important.

Oh look, statistcs state that the RX-8 has better handling than a Mustang. And trust me. EVERYBODY thinks that, except the usual Mustang owner.

Now, for you're quote.

I give on the handling issue.

However:
The equivalent of the cobra in the 2007 model year would have been the Shelby GT 500. The 2007 GT 500's slalom speed is 60 mph. The 2005 Mazdaspeed Rx8 is about 64. I give there. But, the GT 500 has a 4.5 0-60 time. The Mazdaspeed has a 7 second time, 2.5 seconds slower. That makes more of a difference on a road course than 4 mph through a slalom.

You instantly go for the whole "I HAVE MOAR HORSEPOWER HAW HAW HAW" argument, which really had no place in there. So really, you're just mad at me because I essentially told you that you were being an idiot by throwing that in there, and you just can't accept the fact that there is a better car out there.

And as for a mazda fanboy, I eagerly accept that there are lots of cars better than mine. The STI, Evo, Z06, etc. That just doesn't need to be explained. But I'll be damned if someone says that so and so is better just because they lost an argument about the same thing 10 minutes earlier.

actually...the mustang had the better handling on the skidpad. The higher the number the better the handling. The rx8 had the better handling through the slalom.

edit: it probably doesn't make a difference, but C&D reviewed the 04 rx8 and the 03 cobra and rated the rx8 a better car...

although around top gears test track:
1:28.0 – Roush Mustang
1:31.8 – Mazda RX-8

...but we also know they drive cars in rain or shine...so those times aren't really good, i guess.

Isn't that what I quoted?

*looks*

Damn, I look like a fool. *goes to fix post.*

this is an 85 honda civic, HOW DARE YOU.

the only way to settle this is by you's two coming down to the mellet racing track in oklahoma with your two cars, giving me the keys and letting me rip the hell out of your tires....then we'll see which one is faster, or dead.

Haha, oh god yeah. But the one on Main Steet, the guys are, literally, covered head to toe in dirt/grease/everything, and I seriously doubt they even shower. Plus, for 4 tires, they install it for you, it's 12 bucks.

Now there HAS to be something wrong here....besides the creepy older men and their throw away tires.

4 tires for 12 bucks or installation for 12 bucks?

They probably all sneak into your room one night afterward, pin you down and say 'we're just taking our payment from you'...what happens next will be determined by your will power combined with adrenaline and all-out windmill-punching them off..or wake up with a sore arse.

12 dollars for tires AND installation.

Yeah, I think they just take tires from the Firestone, Goodyear, etc trash area, and sell them, lol.
