You know, you're not actually making the people who downloaded the beta suffer by not letting them install the full HL2 game. I mean, they have no use for the beta once the actual game comes out. It's not like it's a punishment for the downloaders to have to get rid of a very old, incomplete build of HL2 in return for the full game. The idea would be better implemented with a benchmark, but still who cares if anyone has the beta. The beta just makes more hype for Valve.

i agree with your statement qckbeam, alienating potential customers is not the best idea, if they implement something that scans your registry to see if u have the hl 2 beta, it would be easily defeated anyhow

I really don't understand why people on these forums get so angry over the beta leak. It's a little out of control. People on here have gone so far as to scan for the IP's of those who are trying to download the beta, and then send the those IP's off to Valve. I must ask, why is this beta so bad, why does downloading it automatically make you more evil than Hitler? If you're going to be this mad over something then be mad over the source leak. Focus your efforts on getting that out of circulation. That could actually do some damage (although I think the amounts of damage it could cause have been overblown).

heh im on a dialup connection at work, so the past like 3 messages werent even posted on my machine heh, i disconnected twice so, ya, my ip changes heh. BTW, there r so many ppl that have the beta right now, sending ppl IPs off to valve is ****ing wrong in my opinion, and it doesnt do any good except annoy ppl and being a bitchy little tattle tell. If you want to help stop the distribution of the beta get the ips of the DISTRIBUTORS! god u ****ing morons, not the d/lers
