My personal opinion...

I allready said to abomination in a different thread that he is doing a good job. I also said that the only problem i could see is that he does it a little too much. But now that i think about it. I dont mind because there are younger forum goers i didnt take into acount.

You know what i think would help.

Change the bkground of the window where you type to make posts to make it say: "Use the search option to check if a thread about your topic has been made previously or not"

Maybe that would help, maybe it wouldent but it would make it so that people cant so easily say that they didnt see the search button or not think about it. :)

Abom|nation is right : people start flaming.

Brassmonkey is simply stating his beliefs and thoughts, and ( nomatter how wrong he is:p) we should respect that, and make it clear to him why he is wrong.

Firstly I have to say that I dont fully understand Abom|nation's behaviour. This is a discussion forum, where people tell their opinions to each other and complain a little. And the fact that threads about the topic keep opening, means that people on these forums do want to talk about it. Please think it over. Thank you.

And now ill tell you my personal opinion. Doom III has a truly good Dynamic lightning system, bump mapping and lots of poligons. Nothing else. Half-Life has lots of new features that hasnt been used or even discovered in other games. Like the physics system, the characters, programmable shaders and everything.

Doom III tried to open a new generation in PC gaming, but went in the wrong direction to achive that. Only 10-15% of gamers have a config that can enjoyably run Doom III-s main features. Without a powerful machine, Doom III becomes a simple FPS. Thats why I said "Doom III is the ultimate game of the current generation, Half-Life 2 is the very first game of the next generation" earlier in another thread.

And on characters: Doom III's highy policount makes characters look like dummies made from plastic, not realistic.

Graphics aint everything. Half-Life proved that.
Half-Life was fun, it was interactive, therefor people didnt mind they had to run low resolutions or in software, cause the game was fun and interactive.

Doom 3 is also able to run on low-end systems, but the feeling wont be good, the feeling on Doom 3 is based on its film like good lightning shadings. Which isn't supported by older cards.

It's already said that Doom 3 will have little interactivity. So they lost the battle when they went there.

To Abom|nation.
Your work is good, but please allow for some serious discussions. If people flamebait or flames, then firstly take their posts and delete them, of course if consistent behavior is within the topic, then you should close it.

I didn't like you closed the Doom 3 topics, cause i would like to have some discussion in the half-life 2 vs doom 3 end.

Else you're doing a good job, and it's just those kind of moderators we need, just keep it a bit less strict, and more rely on punitive actions than simply peace, if they cant understand it the first times.

So long as it stays at discussion level and discussion level only. The other topics were closed because they were made to provoke arguments. There was one topic a while back that had a good HL2 and D3 discussion, it must have reached well over 20 pages, but it eventually turned into a heated argument and was closed. But yes, so long as it's just a discussion, that would be absolutely fine.

Fanboys likes the moderation. The others, more open minded people, thinks it is moderated by other fanboys.

But then again, it is a HL2-forum, so what can you expect?

The problem is that it leaves a bitter taste in your mouth after browsing the forums.

If I were a mod I would close these retarded "vs" topics immideately. Good work Abom.
