This is MY thread. I don't want to make a new thread very time I think of something to talk about, so I'll change the subject in here when I tink of something, probably every couple of days, sometimes maybe more than once a day. I dunno.
Rules are, this is not a spam thread, stay on topic, or I'll report you. When I change the subject, the old one is done, do not talk abuot it any more in this thread. Don't worry though, if what's going on is pretty good, I won't change the subject, only if it's dying down or whatever. This isn't a forum game, it's just me saving trees my minimizing thread space! (I'll feel really stupid if this gets closed right away :/)

Ok, first subject- swearing, and kids. By little brother asked me about "dimensional blades" in diablo 2. I almost said it was the what the ****-pone ersion of the crystal sword, just like I wrote, but didn't. He's very nuerotic (very) and I don't like him much because of it, and I didn't want him to go insane because I made a swear. What is your stance? Keep the kids minds pure, and smite whoever dare utter a curse in their vicinity? Or punish the kids' ears for being in the same room as your mouth?

Well, I think the kid will hear swearing sooner or later. So be yourself. I'd just censor myself every so often. He doesn't have to hear it every 5 seconds.

Another thing, I don't think this thread will work.

What Shammy said. (about the swearing)

And what Dread said.

I don't think this thread will work out to be honest, but as Shamrock said they'll eventually hear it. Just don't go swearing a blue streak when they're like 2 years old.

I'll see how the first two pages go.

What he said. Really, swearing =/= 2 year olds.

i teach kids 5-7, about 21 of them. And when they say 'damn' or 'ass' you have to jump on them fast, otherwise they'll think it's ok. Then they say it at home, and tell the parents i let them say it in class so it must be ok, then i get screwed. There's no need for a kid to use that language at that age, especially when they don't understand the weight of the words they're using.

I never ever swear in IRL unless I'm alone and particularily frustrated with something like when I'm on the computer, even then it will be just a whisper and I feel stupid for doing it.

But online it's a slightly different story, I will usually swear sometimes to show emphasis, and sometimes I do it for fun with certain e-buddies. I find it funny when it's used excessively, which is my main attraction to the Tourettes Guy videos.

So to address your question, I say keep him clean as long as you can.

I like this thread idea, I hope it doesn't fail.

swear words seem silly to me....they're just sounds made by our mouths......I dunno, sometimes I find them silly.
But they do hold a lot of offensive power in our society

I don't know, I don't like kids swearing. I work in a fairly rough part of town, so I hear a lot of children going off on swearing binges, and it bothers me a bit. They shouldn't start swearing until they know it's appropriate usage and when it might be okay.

And by the way, Que, I love that you're back. Sorry I never emailed you. I had a lot of shit going on for the last couple months. It wasn't pleasant. But still, I suck.

That's ok, I figured there was probably something important going on :D I wasn't mad or anything.

When kids swear, I don't like it. It makes me feel bad that the kids saying those things, and it just doesn't sound right. I knwe this girl who thought that kids swearing were funny, but she was a twat anyway, so nvm her... I won't hesitate to call a little kid a dumbass or something if he IS being a dumbass, though. I don't like little kids in general...

lol your sig completely contradicts everything you just said. :D

The problem with children swearing is that they're generally too immature to know when swearing is appropriate.

But then, so are most other people.

When is swearing appropriate?

It's powerful in showing emphasis. Not in professional situations of course.

Right ****ing now.

Most people I know will just call people gay ****s in arguments and most of what they say will have no point. People need to use there brains instead of just saying "gay **** bitch ass cock sucker retard."

MMm. But it is good for emphasis. Just make sure they know when to use it, and try not to do it anyway.

Let's define what is swearing first. Say, when I say a foul word, my intention is not scolding or cursing someone, am I still swearing? I think we should not limit the defination of sweraing to saying certain words, like f-u-c-k. This is a moral misleading. The defination my words has totally ignored the very important factor, the intention. Because kids are immature, if we wish to judge whether a child is wrong, we must question ourselves, or the child: what is the cause of saying such foul word?

Nice thread Que, here, I brought you a thread warming gift:

i swear quite alot, because it's fun, and a good relief when you're pissed at everything in the morning, and it provokes my ultra christian relatives

i dont use it in exchange for proper arguments in a discussion and my vocabulary is quite alright.

who, me? Nevar! I mean, yeah. But I promised Pi a picture of me begging on my knees while wearing a silly hat.

What? Who said anything about judgement?

Swearing is only "wrong" (which isn't even an accurate word here) when used improperly.

Swearing is wonderful in the right situation. For instance, last night, with eight shots of whiskey, four orange sodas, and one delicious j all under my belt, I proclaimed the party to be "****ing balls-deep". This was the correct thing to do.

:D

EDIT: and 2 cuban cigars

She looks like shes making a D: face

I've never noticed her hands before o.O

You know she's thinking "Must kill Ikerous" at that moment

Thats not what she was thinking the night before :naughty:

I personally hate it when women and kids under the age of 13 swear.

I really hate it when a woman swears excessively... I mean if you see this gorgeous girl across the room, and she then opens her mouth... and what comes out of it? : "Fuck, this place fucking sucks dick."
:| Would you still find her attractive?

Discuss.
Damn you!

I don't like it when women swear either. It's like... nng :|

The only sweary girl I know does it in a rather attractive manner, so meh. :p

Women can swear appropriately, I find it comforting when they use it non-excessively, don't feel like I have to 'monitor' myself around them so much.

As for kids, I don't really see it as a big deal unless they're actually being rude or innapropriate with it. Or some kids who think swearing makes them mature or 'hard'.

My little brother, for example, is a compulsive swearer sometimes, and has been for awhile. But he's calmed down with it, and only does it in appropriate situations (around family mostly), so we don't bother about it really. We just tell him to STFU when he's getting on our nerves with it :P
