My translation of the "new" GR article!

I for one would be surprised if we didn't get to control one. But I wonder if that means that there's a Combine or something inside it driving? I thought it was a robot with its own mind.

I read this (in the mag) in the bathroom the other day, interesting but like the other said, no new info :/

Great work guys!

It's a creature in it's own right. The whole 'drivable' rumour came from an e-mail from Valve saying how they had turned it into a drivable vehicle for their own entertainment. The drivable version won't be in the game except maybe as an unlockable egg/cheat.

Most think it's an organic creature with mechanized metal parts. There's no driver.

I find satisfaction in Varsity's answer. Controlling it would be weird. CS players whine about the AWP. I wonder what they would say about the Strider then? :D

first off acient greeks were not gay, bisexual or any other retarded thing you can come up with... and second that greek alphabet letter does not stand for Homosexuality! I should know for i am greek  :sniper:

actually....it's been proven ancient greeks views on homosexuality between a master and apprentice was OK, so long as that relationship ended when the boy got married.

how else do you explain murals of an older man holding a ohh...10 year old boys manhood? Not to mention the written stuff. ;)

As for the second letter of the greek alphabet, there you are correct. but the homosexual movment has decided to use it...

I wonder why. There are tons of symbols they could've chosen. Why this one?

Half-Life is just that good.

Because it looks like the A!
Don't tell me you have forgotten that?

RELEASE THE HEADCRABS!!

someone earlier in this thread said why. i think it was something about the Lambda representing balance and freedom or something like that.

HAHAHAHA
um... maybe because Lambda symbolizes a material's radioactive decay constant (used to calculate half life)?
Can't see the connection with homosexuality in that one though :)

Like i said its nothing new.

Pc Gamer and PC Zone both had the exact same playtests as this magazine did.

Except this article was actually written well.

wasn't alexander the great homosexual?

wierd stuff - so I was watching the E3 -04 movie once more (was a couple of days ago - and I need a fresh dose every now and then). So, as I was watching I just thought that I'd keep an eye out for any people in the video who might be looking gay - just to see if you can draw any actual parallells between this strange saying and the game itself.

My thoughts evolved;

A typical gay-thing = two guys making out. ---> Man and woman making out ---> Man and woman making babies... and the question popped up;

What about hospitals and medical care in City 17 ? What if a pregnant woman has a baby on its way - would the Combines help her and stuff, if she needed escort to a hospital - I mean, do you think they would care ?? You think the Combines does anything more than upholding the law by brute force ? Are there any kind and considerent Combines ?

(Sorry for paddling away from the actual subject - just a thought and some questions.)

Nice that you translated the magazine :)

When I read the beginning of this thread I first thought you had stolen my translation ;)

Just one thing, don't be surprised if you find your translation in 20.000 websites that havent said squat to you about it.

20 exact to 3 decimal places?

I reckon that Homosexual Rights Campaigners use the Lambda sign because Gordon Freeman is a great gay icon. I can just see him now, mincing around Black Mesa in his H.E.V. Suit, with a stiff crowbar firmly in his grasp.

I thought the first Barney gave me a funny look when I walked up to his desk.

Nice translation, really worth the read! :D
Cant wait to play it ...

extremely cool article

anyone else find it interesting that it is mentioned that looking through a combine's mask reveals a skeleton like structure or whatever

Heh I wouldn't mind if that happens. I just translated it. It's GR's text. They should contact them if anyone. I just hope that Swedish papers will post more texts for me to translate :D

I think they meant that form of the mask is similar to a skeleton head. Perhaps it IS their head & not just a mask :) That would be weird.
