Ok, it may get delayed, and I think that may be the case, or they're planin on callin it gold, and workin on the first patch, alittle late. Anyways, if it does get delayed if will be for awhile ATLEAST 2 or 3 months, why work on a game for 5 years then delay it a month and 14 days (Nov 14th)?

A Month and 14 days seems like a long time considering they've been "Finishing up" for quite a bit now.

2 weeks ago they said that they could hit the original date, that means they must be kinda close. So any delay shouldn't be that long really.

one month? The only use i see of that is to make sure there will be noproblems with shipping.

September 30th-October 15th. I doubt that it will be more then this.

Thats exactly the way I see it. Ive noticed that everyone that thinks it will be delayed always avoids answering to this piece of evidence.

They also avoid giving a good reason about why Valve wouldn't just say it was delayed. The "Trying to generate hype" thing is just rubbish because they could generate hype in a million different way, even if it's just a new video or releasing information about Multiplayer.

Guys, just cause it's been in development for 5 years doesn't mean anything. If some big bug popped up that delays it, there's nothing they can do about that, but delay the game and fix it.

I'm not suggesting that's the case, I'm just saying you can't pin release dates down just cause you've been workinga long time.

I'm not saying 5 years.

They expected to finish the game within 3 weeks of the 26th of August. I fail to see a bug pushing this back a month and 12 days.

the 5yr thing comes in as a factor for one reason: They worked on it that long, denie all rumors of a sequel, then 3 months before the release they annouce its existence, they MUST have been sure they would be done, or they were allready done with it by e3. It seems they did everything to avoid a Duke Nukem: Forever thing. A delay would seem stupid. Or maybe a cruel way to promote it for the holiday season?

I was a firm believer that it would come out on the 30th, but damn, nothing is looking good right now...why the hell would it need to be pushed back into 2004?

I agree. If it is late, IMO it will be delayed days, not weeks.

I tend to agree.
If theres going to be a delay it will be relatively short.
None of the this Feb 2004 stuff.

I still am a believer. But that runs out tomorrow night. No way this game is pushed back til 2004 - a week or so delay at the latest...

That idiot is just pranking the board.

Whatever; if you think this screen is PS'ed, you can check out the link in there too. Trust me, I would be more than happy to see Valve prove them wrong.

Great. That proves zero. I'll wait until tomorrow night before I put any stock in delay rumors.

Thank you.

crumbles.

I'd wait till the 30th of September.

Retailers don't have any special insider information. When I ordered Freelancer off Amazon they had an incorrect date for weeks and only changed it a few days before the release date.

why do still people think its going to be delayed??? You newbs++ its coming out Sept 30th.

Not another one of these threads.

/me smells some smoke coming from a spark

Me? I'm waiting until there is an official delay announcement or until September 30, whichever comes first.

Well I was under the impression that the delay rumours were prety much dead. I mean, ATI has confirmed that they are selling there new cards with HL2 and they have confirmed the cards will come out shortly after Sept. 30th. They are alos holding the meeting at Alcatraz on the 30th. Not to mention the fact that quite a few employees have recently mentioned that the game is on for the 30th. Doesn't that settle it?

Well, places like EBgames and stuff dont even know when they're getting it in. They can have their PC's under assumption of 11/19 - 11/20, yet unaware that they will be recieving a shipment on 9/30. They get their stuff as its released, theres never a set date.

It should settle it. But there will always be some skeptics or some IDIOTS who post about their opinions (Fragmaster) or what they heard. To all of them, this is what I say: Look at all the evidence we have that it will be released on the 30th. The meeting at Alcatraz, the bundled video card, the constant reassurances from Gabe and Doug that there were no delays. All the evidence that the skeptics have is the hearsay they get on these forums.

Don't expect it on the 30th, It aint gonna happen... I would expect an announcement this week for sure though, I can't imagine them announeing the delay the week of release, that would be insulting to their customers..

Hey Steelhed! How ya been? Stick suckin dick for coke?

Ah, but Steelhed, we don't beleive you because you provide exactly no evidence beyond: "I think it's coming out in 2004, so it is." We, on the other hand, have a mountain of circumstantial evidence (developer quotes, the ATi thing). If you have any evidence, you should share it.

Plus, i'm not inclined to have my intelligence insulted by someone who can't spell 'head'.

Actually when you first came to these forums you laughed at us for thinking it would come out in Feburary 2004 and it was actually going to be delayed to September 2004. Then you changed your story.

However, If you really think HL2 will be released in Feb, You're sadly mistaken... I have inside sources that say Sept 2004, and I know beta testers of Condition Zero that say it's nothing more than Counterstrike

Lol, yeah, along with the funniest quote of all time:

Well, he's right when he says that Condition Zero isn't worth buying, but apart from that it's all bullshit. The part about 'inside sources' made me laugh though.

Yeah: I'd say that if this deal with ATI has gone public, then the game is coming out soon no matter what. Valve has a contract to ATI now, and they have obviously promised ATI quite a lot by saying the game will be ready to come out with their cards.

Even more proof that elates my fears...good rationale Apos...didn't think of that before.

Feath, remember my logic for a possible delay? Steam not being able to handle the demand and CS:CZ ??

okay, u can throw the CS:CZ scenerio out the window for now (i still believe it will be released before HL2, be it as a small stress test for Steam, or whatever u wanna call it) lets just discuss Steam for a minute..

i don't think Valve would release HL2 if they thought Steam was not capable of handling the release.. obviously they do want pple to buy subscriptions and also not be decimated as far as HL2 communicating with Steam for authentication, or just updates.

im not convinced that Steam will be ready by September 30th.. for whatever reason, just go look at the Steam status page, 4 servers have been down regularly.. and 4 other servers that are online are pretty much at capacity.. and this is before the HL2 release..

if they want CS:CZ release to be smooth, and the HL2 release to be at the very least, decent, then they need to add more servers and get that bandwidth up.. and have all their servers that are offline, to come back online.. and then we're talking..

i don't think HL2 will be delayed because the game is not finished.. i think Steam is a big question mark right now and continues to be the thing that could hold HL2 back.. just my opinion..

Ahem...

To be fair, the correct spelling was already taken, and is currently unavailable. To anyone. :dozey:

i work at a video shop and we never know when were gettin a shipment of say lotr: two towers. it just comes when it comes. we get a shelf date but sometimes it comes like a week before (8 mile) or 2 weeks late (my big fat greek wedding) or right on time (two towers).

all we know is a date and thats all eb will know too.
