Just tried to run Napster and sign up but i am having problems running it with Windows64, does anyone else have this problem and know a way around it. Also, is there any other stores like Napster where i can download as many mp3s as i want for a monthly subscription rather than buying individual songs?

Because society has this funny concept of people paying for things, and not wanting freeloaders rip people off.

A) You must prove that information equals property.

B) You must prove that this property is removed from people.

I always thought downloading from itunes was alright.

how about downloading some frank from itunes? Would ya be cool with that? Or would you demand the money for the EP?

I never argued against either of your points there. To me, a song isn't information, it's as material as my speaker. Fine, by downloading it, you're not removing it from them, but you are instead effectively removing the income they'd have received from the purchase. So no, whilst you're not stealing material property, it still has a very similar effect in that in the end, the person who made it suffers.

My views on music piracy are kinda all over the place. I think it's fine to DL a song, and listen to it to see if you like it, but I think it's a bit wrong to just download all the music you want and never buy it, no amtter how much you like it.

I'm not sure if you know this, but they don't even know I download their music, as it has no effect on them. They don't suffer.

Your views are illogical and incorrect. You fail to provide for a situation where the person never plans on buying music in the first place, whether he can pirate it or not.

Uhhh...I wouldn't know about that. I havn't legally downloaded a song in forever.

Although I have bought a few CDs...

Metallica S&M
Mindless Self Indulgence - Frankenstein Girls Will Seem Strangely Sexy (2 times)
Mindless Self Indulgence - You'll Rebel To Anything
Taproot...can't remember the CD name.

I disagree with you saying you getting ready to get laughed at.

iTunes is a great program. Too bad I hate iPods. I use iTunes as my main MP3 player, and I love it. The buying and what not is very easy though I never had to use it. :naughty:

Yeah iTunes is pretty sweet. The Music Store is pretty good for finding songs to get otherwise, too. :D

You would do well to remember the moral aspect of this argument - is it right and proper to allow a person to enjoy something that they should rightly have paid for?

It doesn't matter if they'd never have bought it without the ability to download it free of charge.

FYI I have a rather huge collection of Vinyl and CDs, and a quite large collection of DVDs as well. I also have a fair amount of pirated material on my computer, so I'm not exactly typing with a clear concience here.

Gone back to Windows Xp Pro and very happy about it and Napster is working fine now.

Got around 2gigabytes of mp3s now, all legal, all for just £15 a month. Gotta fill my 20gig mp3 player :).

Becuase it is against the rules of this site to discuss illegal downloading of music. This is not up for debate.
