Well this certainly does go along with many theories posted here before. The 2nd one is definatelly G-Man. Could the first one be Barney? That would explain the combine uniform.

No. The Combine could of course be a grouping/organisation of people (although some people have suggested that it's a group of aliens AND humans...) However I agree with you that they aren't.
But I don't think that the 2nd line is necessarilly the G-Man... Could be something someone says TO the G-Man as he undoubtedly has a rther shadly amount to do with the whole deal.

In no way does that article ruin the story for HL2. It is however VERY well written and provides a lot of insight into some of the inner workings at Valve.
