They do the Royal Marines training, which is considered the most rigorous training course of any non-special forces unit in the world. They then have to pass SAS selection. They then go on to do SBS selection. All this adds up to mean that the SBS are bastard-****ing-hard.

In my (admittedly, somewhat biased) opinion, having read accounts of several missions executed by both forces, I'd say the SAS (and indeed, the SBS) are the best fighting unit in the world.
 
it doesnt matter who's better ...whomever thinks they're better is probably the worst of the 2 ....brits are known for their modesty ...americans are not

anyways SAVAK pwns all ..so do the death squads trained by the cia to kill dissenters in south/central america ..they're just so much more successful than either the seals or SAS ...really i dont see how you people can glorify either group

Yes, I am accusing you British people of loving your own stuff and not giving any other nation on the entire planet a chance. Especially when it comes to comparison. If you compare anything to a British counterpart, instantly the British one is nicer, has better quality, and magically has it's own semblance of wit. If you ask me, British people are nice, but weak and narrow minded. While usually quite well educated, their awful and stubborn opinions about clear issues are mind boggling, such as how most of you probably think that James Bond could take Mike Tyson in a fight.

I don't think I've ever once heard a British person applaud anything that has come from America, even when America is CLEARLY a much more successful nation with better products, better resources, and better design and manufacturing teams. Yes, even with our braindead leader.

And sorry if that seems harsh, but the British people used to be a very honest and decent society...but sadly has been crushed by the yob culture of today's world. Our opinions are stubborn because we are a society that beleives what it wants - And like you said, we are generally well educated people (Or rather, those with the class to put some imput into their education). Anyway, i do think (Along with many people, including poeple outside of the UK) that the SAS is the more highly trained organization. No offence to the Navy SEALS of course :cheers:

civilians discussing which group is 'better' doesn't make much sense. probably most of the craziest, most difficult missions each group has done we have not heard about.

I saw the other day, just after the olympics, a lot of flag waving and general britishness, I hadn't ever seen that before apart from on TV, I think britain needs that sense of patriotism to make it great again.

I personally don't think britain is better than the US, Tbh I don't really care, I have some friends and family over there, they just say that the stereotypes exist on both sides of the water.
Some of the US think we are all dressed like the beatles, have cockney accents etc, while some in the UK think that americans are all fat loud southern guys and the kids think that all US teenagers are the same as on TV (Jocks, nerds, fine girls, high school etc.)

And Dreadlord, I've seen nothing but spam from you in this thread, with only belittering flaming and unnessecary rants.

But besides, Poland's special forces are the best in the world. US doesn't go anywhere subtle without those badasses.
 
We Dutch also have special forces, they can shoot guns :)
We only have to learn how to aim with them , and we'll be as good as you guy's.

Next step would be getting ammo for the guns, and learning to aim at something that isn't next weeks dinner.
 
I would say that SAS is good but not really the best at Counter Terrorism. Just read about Iranian Embassy Siege they fuked up quite bad. SAS and Seals are the best for behind enemmy lines interventions. For Counter Terrorism my vote goes to the French GIGN, all their interventions have been successfull, they all rund under 5 minutes and they have never killed any hostages. They allways injur ther bad guys, the only ones they kill is when they get the order that nobody survives, just like in some plane they took in paris.
