Need help getting past certain areas

When I came to these parts in the game, my philosophy was to spend half an hour trying to get past them, and if I couldn't, I'd cheat (noclip). However I'd like to know how to get past them, so if anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it.

-Water Hazard: The part with the gate thing where you push the washing machine into some kind of elevator, which raises a ramp. How am I supposed to get over the gate?

-We Don't Go to Ravenholme: The chain-link fence which blasts you backwards if you touch it, due to some kind of electric charge which is making a corpse pinned to the fence twitch violently. How am I supposed to get up the ladder without being electrocuted?

-Nova Prospekt: This is where I am now. I've gotten inside the building and to the general area where an alien is visible past a blue force field being blasted by some kind of energy ray, while sitting in a chair. What am I supposed to do here? I can't find anywhere else to go.

PS: Is there a reason why the antlions don't attack me while in the building? Or is it a bug?

***SPOILER ALERT***Jump the ramp with your airboat. You'll fly over the gate. I hope you still have your airboat because you'll definitely need it.

Wheee! I never thought to use the airboat. How stupid am I, I think I left it behind a while ago. Well, one down, two to go. Thanks very much!

SPOILER ALERT There's a building you need to go into (turn around and run back from that fence) where you can turn the power to the fence of (you go up to the second/third floor) to get there.

There is a switch in a nearby building that turns off the electricity. It's on the second story of a house. You can look down on the fence and turn it off. You have to explore more. You'll find it.


The ant lions don't attack you because you have the pharamones. You get as many as you want. I will give you advice though. Explore. Use a searchpattern. Get a referance point then search out all the possible places to go. You may run in circles but eventually you will find something you didn't see before.
