i read a negative comment in a new hl2 review was that squad members sometimes get in the line of fire. however they apoligize for doing it LOL

NPC: look out!!! it's a combine guard
Gordon: ratatatatatatatata
NPC: raaah!!!! you shot me! You motherf..... I mean my aplogees Mr. Freeman hehehe.. heh.. er...
Gordon: .....

That is NOT a negative review - talk about trying to attract attention!

That's a fault - and a fairly minor one at that.

Last I checked these rebels weren't exactly well trained military troops. How do you know you wouldn't accidentally end up doing that in a real fire fight?

It may actually be more realistic and not a fault at all?

Actually, it's not even described as a fault. The reviewer seemed impressed that NPCs were smart enough to reposition themselves rather than the age old hassle of gamers having to manuver around brain-dead NPCs.

its always nice when a teammate sacrafices himself for you when a strider is chasing you both and then as hes about to die, apologises for getting in your way

Sounds a lot better than Swat 3 if anyone played that.

Damn those guys would walk into either the bad guy's line of fire...or mine 99% of the time

Well, troopers do run into line of fire in real life combat too.

word :)

If it was the PC Gamer UK review, they don't mention it as a fault. It just says that they apologise for running in front of your field of fire.

A CLASS FEATURE. I think some human players should have it.

I don't even think its a fault at all. What happens in real life? And with people who don't have any training? You get little problems like this. If anything I'd say its more true-to-life and makes the game better(and more of a challenge.)

The thing I keep forgetting is that these resistance fighters probably have more combat experience than you do. Gordon was only in BMRF for top two days.

Actually guys, when I play counter-strike my teammates get in my way... and we are talking REAL people here.

At least these NPC's apologize for getting in your way. That actually makes them better than playing against real people in that respect. LOL

I agree, people without training aren't going to perfectly execute military maneuvers, untrained people are bound to get in each others way. It isn't a fault, it's how VALVe intended to make the game in order to make it more life like, I wish reviewers would see that!

Even trained people get in each other's way during heated combat situations.

This isn't a major issue.

isnt that a normal thing in fire fights? it happens online with real ppl

I don't see any ting wrong with it.

Walk into line of fire is very realistic. it does happen alot in real life.

The person crossing the line of fire dies a horrible death as he is mutilated by bullets, and in the case of friendly fire, the one firing the weapon is wracked with years of guilt. Why do you ask?

i wonder if you actually have to shoot them to make them move though

lol some actually believe its done on purpose?
Its a game and it doesn't claim to be a hyper realistic one so its probebly a little harmless bug but from pure gameplay point of view you could rate it as negative since its anoying for the player to some degree.

And if thats all negative they could find to say you know it must be one heck of a singleplay adventure :)

I thought HL2 is aiming for hyper realistic game experience... I wouldn't call that a bug...even if it's harmless bug.. :E

Bug or not.... it will make the fight more realistic....

If the guy gets in front of you, just sidestep once and keep firing. Simple as that.

will be hard to defend the allies, cuz in the videogames I always defend my allies

in freedon fighters I always rescue a injured allie even if he is in the middle of the street whit thousands of soviets shooting
also I become human shield

its all part of the game

the people in c17 are american right?

give them guns, and TK's ahoy!

:E
